A better listing I think would be a "Good Trader" list. Those not on the list could send their items 1st, showing they are a good trader, and then have their name added to it when their trade arrives good. Names could be removed if need be.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

The address is important, as we aren't exactly checking IDs here. It's free to start a new account, and there's nothing to stop someone from serial "trades" on the forum. Home address is public information. It's generally not needed for typical forum activity, so our addresses are mostly hidden for the "appearance" of privacy. AFAIC, if you've ripped someone off, you lose any courtesy privacy protection.

What /I/ would do is stick a thread for trade disputes, where people can go after personal communications fail. That gives both parties a public forum to air their side of the dispute. In the case of obvious fraud as what happened to Pangloss, and the Box participants, the perpetrator gets his name and address permanently posted for all to see. That way when someone trades with lxskllr, they can check my address with the list of known frauds to see if there's an address match. Otherwise, how do you know I'm not really snusinusa?

              I don't. Are you?

Seriously, this is a good idea. Also, a quick shout out to newish member bigbuyer with whom I had an excellent trade on the snuffhouse.org board.

I guess it's always risky, and snusinusa had a good rep here.

edited to say .org - not .com for snuffhouse.

dude, call me distasteful, but the guys reading his PMs, he ****in jacked Box, he played pangloss, and hes laughing about it right now. the forum camaraderie didnt mean enough to him to resist the temptation of keeping Box, and for that hes sealed his own fate, if he was stupid enough to play this shit and not expect any sort of retaliation, then he deserves whatever anyone feels like is an appropriate redemption. call me an asshole, give him the benefit of the doubt, but i calls em like i sees em folks, and he did all of this intentionally.

....its possible that he still might just be in a situation where he's away from the PC.
nope. he's checked his pm's. there is no excuse why he couldn't post his circumstances.
Someone could start a sticky with a feedback thread in it as to your experiences with people. We use one like it on the e-cig forum and it seems to work very well.

When you make a trade or buy from someone in here, you post what you bought/sold/traded, and if it all went smoothly. Most people are decent and something like that would help weed out the ones that aren't.
                  good idea.
                  All of this.

And as far as the address thing goes....it doesn't mean anyone is going to send baseball bat-wielding thugs to his house to crack his kneecaps, it's just the next step as far as communication. Someone local can actually go to his house and ask him what the problem is face to face; sometimes this is the best way.

I frequent a lot of car forums, and this is generally how it is handled when someone "disappears" after receiving parts/money. It works more than it doesn't. Car parts cost a little more than tobacco, so getting burned really sucks.

Dude, I'm sorry for your loss... On the side, I sell books on half.com. Earlier last week, I flew off my bike and got a concussion and was pretty banged up, and as a result was not able to ship some books media mail on time. I ate it and paid priority at my expense. Unless he's dead he has no excuse. It's not about the money, it's the sheer principle. He is a liar and a thief, plain and simple.

Personally, I like where this read is going. He burned us collectively, even though most of us weren't directly involved in his assholery, but he deserves whatever burn we can give back to him. Sure, post his address. GD thief. What stops a man from posting a sensible explanation WHILE checking his PM's? Cowardice. Like daruckis said, call it like I see it. I do commend pangloss for the OP. As lots of you know, I'm all for treading lightly, but only when it's appropriate to not start fires. Which is almost all of the time for me. This guy burned us though. Let it burn.

that said, I wish someone would trade me for the oomph I have in the snus exchange. I'd rather die than crack that open.
