Hi all,
Just wanted to introduce myself after some extensive lurking.
You all seem very friendly and knowledgable!
I'm probably the typical story - smoker, went through 2 cans of Camel Frost before finding the real deal.
I smoked an occasional clove in college - maybe a pack/week, then ran out and had a regular cigarette one night.
Then it was about a pack/day for 6-7 years. Mix in a cigar (usually Partagas) every few weeks too. I quit when my daughter was born 9 months ago, but would have some when out on weekends and not around her. Very bad. My wife, strangely, can handle the on/off again style like that, but I couldn't.
I started smoking cloves again at the rate of a pack every 3 days or so. Never around my daughter. Finally I reached the point where I just couldn't stand the whole mouthwash/brushing/washing hands/changing clothes routine, and quit cold turkey. About 3 days in I was having a bad fit, and was in line at a store to buy a pack of cloves, but decided to buy a tin of Camel Frost instead. That was ultimately a great decision.
That was about a week and one sampler order ago. So keep that in mind when looking at my tastes. Maybe they will be useful to other snubies.
Anyways, I have tried:
General white mini mint - My first Swedish snus. Good, what Camel Frost should be IMHO. I like the smaller size in my mouth, but which it had the hit of an 8mg. I'm a sucker for peppermint flavor though - candy, schnapps, tea...
General white portion - good, and I'm trying to use this as my yardstick to compare with the other non-mint/flavor portions. I feel this is the one I'm most familiar with right now. The first 3-4 seemed OMG  salty, and I generally don't like salt in anything, but you were all right. It got much better after a few days once my mouth adjusted. This is my "regular" right now while I try others.
General Onyx - woah. Juices up very fast for me at this point. After the initial couple minute flow of pepper, I do like it a lot. Had one the other night after a few beers, and was great. Compliments good beer instead of interfering like the more lemony white portion. Maybe this will be my drinking snus.
Have one in my mouth right now, and the initial shock is still a bit too much. I have a funny feeling that I'd like this better if it was in a white portion (drier). It seems to shoot it's flavor load in the first 10 minutes then become much more subtle.
Goteborg's Rape #2 - had three of these today. Very yummy. Not too wet/runny. Take the general white, subtract a bit of salt and the lemon, add a touch of some kind of berry flavor. I think I like this even better than the gen white.
Jacobson's (sp?) Icefruit - meh. Had a couple over the weekend, and they didn't seem to have much of any kind of flavor. I'll have to revisit this one.
General wintergreen - A nice mix up from the mini mint. Seems to be different in that the wintergreen flavor diminishes slowly, and a more regular flavor emerges. I think that's a good thing that it adds complexity. The mini mint on the other hand seems to be consistent in taste beginning to end.
In my fridge but not tried/opened:
Mocca pomegranate
Offroad Icemint
Catch white eucalyptus mini
Grovsnus white portion
Gotlandsnus green
I'll be bugging you with many questions over the next several days I'm sure. Right now I have to hit the sack though.
