Thoughts on snus

Hey, new here to the forums. Starting using the Camel stuff about 6 months ago or something and switched to the "real" stuff since about 3 months or so after I got a free sample from General.

My first order was from "snuscentral", a co-worker and I were going in on an order to split the cost of shipping, but we got ripped off and never received our order. I was upset, but I've gotten two orders from "buysnus" now and no problems. Fast shipping and plan on ordering another shipment this weekend.

I like the mini-portions because I have a smaller face, so big ones like Camel White tend to stick out noticeably (haha and I have bell's palsy too, so it makes it look even worse!) Anyway, right now I have in my mouth a Thunder Frost mini.

I've been pretty good with keeping myself off cigarettes, however, when I go out drinking, I can't help myself and either buy a pack of cigarettes or bum some from others in the bar. Such as happened this past weekend. Does that ever happen to you guys, or have you been using snus so long that smoking a cigarette is no longer an option. I can't say it happens to me ALL the time, only when I'm drinking pretty heavily. I do feel sick afterwards, and I'm sure part of it is my "disgust" at myself for caving in and smoking one.

Anyway, I work overnight shifts doing tech support, and I really don't miss the long walks outside for a cigarette (we work in a big building) and I'm sure not gonna miss it when winter time comes. Having said that, has anyone tried the Elixyr Power Energy portion? Energy drinks and snus? What a winning combo for the overnight worker! I'm probably gonna order one to try out this weekend, but I was curious if others had it before. I would be deterred from it if people said it tasted like shit.

Hello and welcome! I'm fairly new myself, about a week in to the real stuff. I've been around other smokers a couple times now while drinking, and my advice is to use the strongest, most natural (not mint/fruit) flavored portion you have. It'll taste better with the beer.

Also, maybe switch out the portions more often... you'll get more nic, and more hand to mouth activity which should help with the psychological aspect.

Welcome to the forum. Can you grow a mustach? I think that helps. But really, it's not illegal, it's not smoke, you're not spittin' in a can. I don't really care to "hide" it. I mean, it could just as well be a gummy bear in my lip.

Snus has really taken the urge to smoke away from me, but I quit being a regular smoker a while back, but I'd have an occasional cig, or a night of cigs if drinking. I did smoke 1 cig while drunk a few weeks ago with a snus in too.

I did recently buy some Eclipse cigs that are smokeless, sorta like a non electronic e-cig, out of curiousity. They arn't too bad. But I am limiting them to 1-2 a day.

I am Snuson's official Elyxr pimp. If you do a search for Elyxr and my name as author, you will probably find at least 100 posts I have made explaining the glories of Elyxr. I have been using it every day for at least a year and a half and don't know how I would function anymore without it. And btw, 1000% better than that Northerner crap.

BUT.....Yes, it DOES taste like a** at first. But so what, if you pay attention to how it makes you feel, you will fall in love nevertheless. And you do get used to the rather strange taste soon enough

As for the size of regular portions, when i first started, I too thought I needed to stick with minis. But after a month of using regulars, it was just not an issue. I do keep mine pushed back further than traditional, but you would have zero idea I had anything in my mouth.

Don't sweat the smoking. If you enjoy it, go ahead and smoke. Every so often isn't going to be that harmful, and life's here to enjoy. Try to keep from smoking just for hand activity; smoke because you want to smoke, not out of boredom. Nasal snuff can give you some of the manual satisfaction, and is a very nice addition to snus.

Lös snus may be an option for you. You can bake a small pris that would be almost completely invisible. The downside is it sometimes falls on your teeth :^D As was said above, who cares if someone can see your snus? Is an old Scandinavian habit that's nothing to be ashamed of. If people can't get around that, maybe they aren't good enough for you ;^)

Elyxir? I get no pickup from it, but I find the taste "interesting". It's bad, but in a sort of good way. It's worth a shot in any case. It's certainly a cheap gamble.

Yeah, it is all about the mustache. I have a big handlebar and no one at my work knows I snus. I could probably use two portions at once and go un-noticed.

A few months ago I ran out of snus ops:. I had to get up at 4:30am after two hrs sleep, run an hr to my part time job at a furniture store, (car was in the shop) and immediately unload a 50 foot truck packed with furniture. Fortunately, I have a roommate that also uses snus. Not knowing what it was, I grabbed a can of elyxir and only elyxir and proceeded to chain snus the entire day. My tiredness/need for nicotine, caffeine was > the unnatural chemically rich cat piss taste that elixir provides. I was however, able to note several looks of shock and awe from passerby's as I effortlessly hoisted dining tables with ease, remaining wide awake for 20hrs+. Since then, I always keep a can of elyxir in the fridge just in case but have yet to use it since and I hope I never have to.

Happy Birthday. and don't sweat the occasional cigarette. It takes time to get over old habits. I smoked for 38 years, quit 9 months ago and still bought an occaisional pack. The time between packs keeps getting longer and longer, it's now been about 2 months since my last pack. The beauty of snus is I know I can have an occasional cigarette without getting sucked back in to old habits. Now I have a cigarette when I want one, not because I have to have one.

BTW, two week later update. I've got the Elixyr in my mouth now as it turns out, so I figured I'd come back and repost. I must admit, the smell when you open up the can is enough to knock out a horse, but after a few minutes, I don't really notice the taste as much as others said. Maybe it just doesn't bother me as much. I notice I salivate a little more than usual, but still not enough to bother me.

I have not noticed any actual benefits in terms of the caffeine and I'm just wondering if the presence of a hardcore high nicotine level is enough to achieve the desired effects. Haha.

They definitely are pretty strong.

I think I've worked out a game plan for myself after trying 3 different shipments of five cans each:

A roll of Elixyr for working overnight
A roll of some strong Original portion for going out drinking
A roll of Thunder Frost (or some similar strong mini) for every day use

Sounds pretty good to me.

Elyxr is funny. You don't ever notice a "caffeine rush", yet you just feel really good. And no,, that isn't the big nicotine as other sterks won't make me feel the right way. It IS the mx of caffeine sand taurine. It is just done so well, you feel great without any "wired" affect. Very reason Elyxr is so appealing to me.

And your experience with noticing the taste in a bad way less and less is VERY typical. With just a little time, you get so used to it it just isn't a deal. The only reason we so over emphasize the taste deal is first try, it IS noticeable for so many folks. If they are ready for it, it goes much, much easier.

-What did SC do to make up for this? Did they pay you back or replace the order?

-That's the only time I REALLY crave cigarettes anymore, but I just keep in a Thunder Frosted while I'm drinking and it keeps my craving under control.

Thunder Frosted is great. I use it full time. it keeps my cravings under control and gives me my nic fix while I'm working. I can leave one in for a few hours and it keeps me sane

With chad on this one. Thunders as well as Oden ES Kanel have been my kick the craving go to's. Clag qui being 3rd in line but moving up I think.

Welcome BTW...I know late in putting out the mat...but better late then never. Looks like we gave on on cigs around the same time. My experience so far is each day has gotten much easier. I did follow the advise sagely givin and quit worrying bout it so much. Even snuck a couple at lunch once or twice. But I no longer feel the need or desire to run out and light up. 3 cigs in 3 weeks...that I can live with.
