    wintergreen burn/tingle?

for anyone that hasn't been following my other thread, i'm new to snus and still getting adjusted.

i was wondering if any regular flavors give the gum burn that i get from the wintergreen flavors that is similar to that of american dip?

it's something that i strangely enjoy, and haven't experienced it from any snus other than the wintergreens (general white and thunder extra strong winters), even the one or two sterk portions i've tried as far as i recall. regular portions do give a slight tingle i guess, but it's like night and day.

Also does anyone know what causes the burn?

    The menthol(deleted) causes the burn.

    Edit:
Apparently menthol isn't a form of alcohol as I thought.

    Edit2:
    Or is it :^/

    menthol
chemical compound also called peppermint camphor

terpene alcohol with a strong minty, cooling odour and taste. It is obtained from peppermint oil or is produced synthetically by hydrogenation of thymol. Menthol is used medicinally in ointments, cough drops, and nasal inhalers. It is also used as flavouring in foods, cigarettes, liqueurs, cosmetics, and perfumes.

The menthol molecule can exist as one of two enantiomers (mirror-image isomers). The naturally occurring material is the levorotatory form (the compound that rotates the plane of polarized light to the left), called (-)-menthol (or l-menthol). Synthetic menthol is racemic, consisting of equal amounts (-)-menthol and (+)-menthol (or d-menthol), the latter being the isomer that rotates the plane of polarized light to the right.

Truly not whiskeyrebel!! What Snuson is for. And although I can't speak for most folks, I know both lxskllr and I take great pleasure in helping out new folks, really the reason we have stuck around so long.

If we could harness our(Snuson's) accumulated knowledge, we could take over the world :^D

General Wintergreen is the only snus I've had that has that burn. I've been snusing for 3 months now, and it still burns!

I despised thunder wintergreen for the reason you would like. I highly suggest thunder if you like wintergreen and like the sting to it.

from my experience they all burned at first, until you get used to them. the stronger ones burn too, as you step up.

                  ~~
Only Catch Euca-thol has done that to me and that's part of the reason it's still my favorite. The menthol 'burn' lets you know it's there before the nicotine gets started.

Although I will attest that the burn diminishes considerably the more you use it. Just like dip.

I used to get a small lip/gum burn from using dip, but not anymore.

Whiskeyrebel you may enjoy the Wintergreen Discreet snus I sent you. Also the mint gives a pretty good burn. I double barrel them as they are such small portions. Gets your nicotine level up rather quickly. The "run" from them after a bit gets to be quite strong. Let me know what you think of them. I too enjoy that burn but is seems to subside after some time of usage.

The burn sensation from General Wintergreen is but a short lived one.

I enjoy the burn. This is why the best wintergreen experience for me is Grizzly Long Cut dip now this really burns Nice!

Catch Eucalyptus and Thunder Wintergreen Stark still give me a "burn" feeling due to the minty taste. It does the trick though.

You might feel the burn again if you start los too. But it'll go away after a while.

i do have a can of the catch euc/menthol and it's ok but a bit mild overall

and got my can of thunder extra stark winter with my general winters. i'm a smoker so the nicotine wasn't too overwhelming. it's ok, but i still do definitely prefer white portions over originals (so if you got whites to trade, check my exchange post).

                              thanks for all the replies.

i've been rotating mainly between the general white winter/gotes rape white/roda lacket white and a couple portions of the thunder winter/catch euc/thol and skruf kran here n there.
