Note: bergamot may also refer to the bergamot orange which is unrelated to the (earl grey) herb of the same name.

Thus Tom's reference earlier in the thread to bergamot being a common ingredient in SP type nasal snuffs.

One name two different plants with two different flavors.

Thus bergamot may refer to an earl grey-ish or citris flavor in snus (e.g. Kronan or e.g. Granit)

I've never had Goat #2 so I just don't know what flavor dominates it. What I do know is that #1 is strongly Juniper.

I think that someone like lxskllr will be better able to pinpoint what it is that you are tasting

I'm a big fan of Earl Grey and I have yet to find a snus that has the noticeable taste of bergamot.

                What have you tried?

General, Skruf Original, Camel (Swedish), Taboca, Knox, Offroad Original Portion, LD & Granit pretty much all have a bergamot base.

Earl Grey uses the bergamot orange for flavoring. Bergamot the herb has a scent reminiscent of bergamot orange, and has been used in the past as an ersatz tea...

For the Rapé#2, I'd say it's definitely lingon berry you're tasting. I haven't gotten any bergamot from any of the Göteborg brands. Bergamot will have a bitter citrus taste. The peel from a standard orange would probably be the closest approximation, but it also has elements of lime flavor. LD has the strongest bergamot taste imo.

Out of those, I've tried General and Skruf and didn't really notice the distinct taste of bergamot at all. Granit is on my list of must-tries.

Give LD a try. I don't get much bergamot from Skruf either. I know it's supposed to be in there, but I have a hard time tasting it. General definitely has bergamot flavor, but I find it fairly subtle.

So two plants but one similar flavor.

Thanks lxskllr very informative as always

Goat Rape #2 = Lingonberry. Delicious!

The best way to describe bergamot according to my palate is "lemony." One of the best tasting things in the world is lemon with salt on it, so most snus fits the bill nicely.
