      MY General Wintergreen Review

Opening the can, a very American apparent aroma of Wintergreen seems overwhelming. The pouches are moist, but not too moist, and the portions are incredibly spacious. Possibly too spacious?

Initially I go straight up top, and off to the left above my canine. The taste almost numbs my tongue, similar to a Wintergreen Lifesaver. Though the taste isn't bad, it seems unusual as a snus. Slight burn at first.

Very little drip and the portions are fairly firm. More firm in fact than other full sized portions I have every tried.

After about 15-20 minutes I still have flavor with extremely subtle hints of the natural tobacco/salty flavor. A teeny tiny buzz but i'm not sure if it is the snus or just the Wintergreen.

I've switched sides and almost front and center but off to the right a tad. Wintergreen flavor has lessened but still apparent, tobacco taste is more noticeable. Getting a fair amount of drip now.

On a second run, I strangely find myself wanting to try my bottom lip.
WAAAY more of a burn seeing that I don't snus on my bottom lip often. Actually overall it is more comfortable down there, however the drip happens within 5-10 minutes and I must switch.

Luckily there isn't much drip, but still a tad. Get about a full hour out of it.

      FINAL GRADE: B
Bottom Line: I would never use this as my go-to snus, but it is a nice changeup if Wintergreen is your thing. Maybe a can every now and then.

This is my first time writing an in-depth snus review, so be gentle!

I just can't seem to get enough of Nick & Johnny brand snus lately; I'm wild about it! I don't see it mentioned as frequently as the tried and true General and Skruf brands, but it deserves just as much attention as them, if not more.

Nick & Johnny is a reasonably moist snus, so once you pop it under your lip, it won't take long for the flavor to start flowing. You will immediately be greeted by a rich and robust tobacco flavor, complemented by a delightful hint of pepper. N&J contains a considerable, but not overwhelming, amount of salt, similar to what you would find in General. N&J also has a distinct element of spiciness to its flavor. By "spiciness", I don't mean it's like the feeling of eating 20 atomic hot wings in 13 seconds; it's more like gracing your taste buds with a zesty and playful tickle.

One can of Nick & Johnny contains the standard 24 1 gram original portions. At 11mg of nicotine per portion, you will find that N&J packs a bigger nicotine punch than the average 8mg snus, without being overwhelming like many of the brands fighting in the nicotine wars these days. Also, the creative and unique artwork on your eye-catching can of N&J is certain to strike envy into the hearts of any nearby hipsters who happen to see it.

Nick & Johnny is great for any time and place, but I especially love it first thing in the morning after I roll out of bed. The strong and robust flavor will wake you up while telling you that it's going to be a good day!

In conclusion, Nick & Johnny will be loved by anybody who seeks out bold and assertive flavors, and even people with the shyest of taste buds will be delightfully surprised. If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and include a can of Nick & Johnny with your next order of snus.

              Oden's Classic Cinnamon Portion.

I hate Big Red gum. I hate Red Hots. I even hate Cinnamon Tic-Tacs. Needless to say I was skeptical about trying this. Odens taste nothing like the above mentioned items. The flavor is subtle, natural tasting. It doesn't have that "burn" that cinnamon flavored candy has. The pouches are a little on the dry side, but very soft on the gums. 5 out of 7 days a week, I start the day off with this snus. It goes amazing with coffee, and lasts over an hour. If you like cinnamon in any way, try this snus. I will always have a can on hand, even if it's just to have 1 a day.

Just something to add to the above. And also a snus I can use just about every day without turning on me.

Ah the new shipment is here. Along with some reviews.

Nick and Johnny Original Portion. This one was hyped up in my mind before it even arrived, and it delivered beyond all expectations. Can design is innovative and creative. Upon opening, a puzzling, complex scent greeted me, and actually made me turn up my nose a bit. A sour, spicy and slightly repulsive odor! In the lip it went, and I was treated to the best damn snus I've had the privilege of tasting thus far. Faint citrusy notes accompanies by spice and a strong, clean tobacco taste. This snus actually put a smile on my face. The nicotine kick was substantial as well. Strong, but not sometimes overpowering like Claq Qui.

                  Nicotine: 9/10
                  Taste: 10/10
                  Can: 9/10
                  Portion material: 8/10
                  Reusability: 10/10

Not so much luck with Jakobssen's Icefruit Portion. Interesting, old-timey can design. Strong minty aroma upon opening the can. Upon lipping it, I got the taste of a strong, unsweetened breath mint with a weak fruit undertone. The fruit was not sweet or complimentary - it was distracting. The two flavors seemed to clash, like an unsweetened piece of Juicy Fruit gum dipped in menthol. I quickly grew tired of the portion and chucked it after 20 min. Scotch tape went around the opened can and back in the freezer it went.

                  Nicotine: 5/10
                  Taste: 4/10
                  Portion material 7/10
                  Can: 7/10
                  Reusability: 2/10

And we have a heavy hitter coming to the plate, Lucky Strike White Portion. Based on my beloved experience with Lucky Strike Original, I had high hopes for a less runny and longer-lasting white portion. I was not disappointed. Not much explanation needed for the can design - a true classic. Upon opening, there was a strong citrusy scent accompanied by strong tobacco and a toasty odor. It tasted of strong citrus, and toasted tobacco - a divine combination to say in the least. The portion material is soft and comfortable, easy on the gums, and withstands the onslaught of mouth movement I usually subject my portions to. The nic kick is decent, and adds a nice spice to the wonderful flavor. An instant regular in my rotation.

                  Nicotine: 8/10
                  Taste: 10/10
                  Portion material: 9/10
                  Can: 10/10
                  Reusability: 9/10

                  Coming soon - Taboca Original.

I really look forward to trying the N&J. I have some cans, but wanna make a dent in my opened stock 1st before I open more.
I REALLY like General Sterk and Claq Cui, so I am hoping it is comparable to those.

The Luckys to me are OK, but something about the portion material maybe, it seems like it gets all mushed up. I'll have to give them more time.

There are horrible snuses. There are OK snuses. And there's great snuses. Upon my first try of Taboca Original I realized I had found another one of those snuses that you wish you'd ordered more of for the rotation. Plain, deep blue metal tin - I always give a bonus for metal tins, they stay colder out of the fridge longer. Plus, they're damn cool.
The flavor is tangy and slightly fruity-sweet - it really does taste like figs and bergamot, so no false advertising here. Just the right amount of salt as well. The only downside is that it does go bitter after 45 min, which is way longer than you're supposed to have it in anyway. A great, flavorful snus. The nic kick is subtle and subdued, great for an in-between with stronger sterks. The portion material is soft and pillowy, and is comfortable on the gums. I could use these portions all day without getting burned out.

Joe Camel is a confused fellow. He tries to murder millions of people with his delicious cigarettes. Realizing he is fighting a losing battle, he takes a trip to Sweden, has a bright idea, and creates an imitation snus to hook a new generation of health-conscious tobacco addicts. He formulates his recipe with a batch of pulverized breath-savers and sweet n' low, adds a bit of powdered Camelicious tobacco, toxic industrial waste, wraps it up in a teabag and sells it in a cool metal tin to young kids. The one smart thing Joe Camel ever did was sell his brand name to enterprising Swedish manufacturers, and explicitly stated he wants nothing to do with the formulation or manufacturing of this new product.
The end result - JTI's Camel Brand Snus, completely unlike it's American counterpart. Camel White holds true to the Swedish tradition and is a typical white portion snus - strong bergamot flavor with peppery elements. Plain grey plastic tin with pleasing color motif. Somewhat dry and stiff portion material. If you're a fan of white portions and bergamot, this one is right up your alley. A great citrusy fix in a sophisticated rotation of white portions. It takes the nic about 20 min to kick in, but after that, a very nice ride. Very reusable - an easy add to the daily rotation.

Return of snus evaluations. Keeps goin' like a cockroach!

It's about 8:40 am, I smoked one the last original formula Djarum Blacks I'll ever smoke. I'm still drowsy with Monday-itis, and I'm getting over an annoying case of tonsilitis. I'm still wondering if I have to tell the chick I made out with the other night, but I think she has medical coverage anyway....

WHAT? Oh, you mean this is a snus forum?!?! BWAHAHA, my bad...

When you wake up on a Monday morning and every fiber of your being and every neuron in your brain cries out for nicotine comfort, you need a snus that will kick in you the face like a drunken skinhead. Oden's Ekstra Sterk Kanel was formulated by mad scientists for exactly this purpose. It's unassuming packaging surprises you when you pop the can for the first time. A waft of cinnamon aroma washes over your sinuses like you stuck your nose into pile of cinnamon - imagine Pilsbury "Scarface" Doughboy sticking his schnozzle into a mountain of cinnamon on his desk, giggling hysterically. Upon popping the slightly larger-than-normal portion, a slightly sour flavor is the initial taste, closely followed by a subtle cinnamon note. The cinnamon flavor is intensified by playing with the portion. The interesting flavor is not the main attraction of this snus, however - within minutes I was given the best nicotine dose I received thus far. I felt really, really energetic and relaxed at the same time! Like a pot smoker who wants to start 10 businesses, but doesn't want to get up because he feels so good with his Cheez-its and reruns of "I Love Lucy!"
Additionally, this is no typical sterk portion. Many sterk portions I've tried burn and spice up like hellfire - replete with hiccups and sweating. Not so with our cinnamon-spiced friend. The nic delivery is SMOOTH. Powerful, but not overwhelming. The portion material is nice, even if the slightly-oversized portion makes your lip bulge out a little more than usual. As with your typical sterks, this is not an all-day portion, but it makes a GREAT portion first thing in the morning with coffee, or after a large meal.

                        Packaging: 5/10
                        Nicotine: 10/10
                        Portion material: 7/10
                        Flavor: 7/10
                        Reusability: 5/10

                        Stay tuned...
