    Temporarily quitting snus.

I am soon going to swear in at MEPS, the US Army's physical fitness and aptitude test. I am planning a timeline to wean myself off nicotine for my duration of Basic Training. I have a few weeks left to enjoy what snus I have left, and what is coming to me in the mail. My last week before being shipped off, I will quickly wean myself off of snus with mini portions and/or Commit lozenges. I will dearly miss my snus for the temporary duration that I will not have access to it.

I may very well be in training throughout the Christmas season, so I have a favor to ask of my fellow snusers. I desire to try Kardus as much as having sex with a Italian supermodel. I am willing to deposit money to a fellow trusted snuser to grab me a box of this stuff and freeze it for me to enjoy upon my release from Basic Training.

Also, I will be releasing my stock to whoever is willing to pay fair price for the unopened cans of snus I will have in my possession before departing.

    PM me for email info.

Why wouldn't you be able to have snus? A friend of mine went through Basic and had some with him...

I was under the impression you weren't able to carry any personal possessions whatsoever. Tell me more... and what branch?

And the offer is still out for the Kardus.

I could help you out with the Kardus, but don't you have web access in basic? If it turned out you were still in basic, you could order it online, and have it shipped to my(or someone else's) house. It shouldn't need freezing. It keeps perfectly at fridge temperature.

I appreciate the offer. I definitely need to research this some more.

My initial impression is that Basic is a sealed-off environment where all you're allowed to do is send letters.

Yea, look into it. I'll definitely help you out, but I prefer not to hold other's money when possible. If that's what it takes though, I'm game :^)

When I went through basic, we could smoke, buy smokes, and had a smoking room. I guess that was the olden days though.

I bet it's the same deal as the delta flight... Against the rules, but how will they ever know? Maybe just keep a roll in your underpants.

In honor of what you are doing, I will happily buy Kardus for you and hold it until you are ready. It would be my pleasure and honor to do it as a thank you for the service to our country you are about to commit to.

I don't need anything from you for this. Please just accept it as a thank you gift from all of us.

It should still be the same. I just got off the phone with a friend of mine, and he said through Army BASIC/AIT they were able to smoke/dip. So it shouldn't be any different now. He said he was able to receive packages as well.

To echo sage, thank you for your service.

I have a few buddies who joined the different branches, all who were smokers before joining. From what I've been told you are NOT allowed to have any tobacco products while in basic.

One of them in particular first tried smoking in the barracks but it was such a hassle to have to stand on a chair and blow the smoke out of the vent he started dipping.

Although I don't know if they go through your packages in case someone were to send you snus.

Good luck in basic and quitting.

But in today's more totalitarian way of being, it would not suprise me. I am glad I was not born later than I was.

I would at least try to order some once I was there, or bring some with me. If you order it, you could at least feign ignorance, and say that somebody was trying to send you a gift.

Ahhh...from what I understand, you're not going to get the luxury of having a computer in basic training, and furthermore you're not going to be able to use tobacco. Tobacco is not allowed in basic training at all, and will be confiscated. Don't try to bring it, because they'll find it and you'll be in a whole mess of trouble. On top of that, you'll be too busy doing things to use a computer in the first place, and after that you'll want to use any time you have to sleep or write/call home.

Anyway, I want to extend a very BIG thank you for serving your country. I am grateful for your service. I'm in the process of enlisting myself, as a lowly DEPer in the Navy, but I won't get to go to basic until next summer because I have prior commitments with my job. Good luck, soldier!
