    Phew!

Baked my first pris just now, LD original. Spent a good 2 minutes messing with it before sticking it in. Think its beginning to break already but my lips keeping it in place! Doing my best not to tongue the little sod!

If it's the only way to keep the prilla in place then, damn, tongue it. It takes much time to develop a "lössnus-poker-face". Forget all the well-meant tips by some seasoned snusers to leave the prilla alone or to place it dead-center or to try to keep your mouth dry while using lös, that doesn't work for newbies. I tried all of that myself as a newbie and almost gave up on lössnus.

Just find your own best way to use the stuff, or else I guarantee you that tomorrow you post something like, "well, I guess lös isn't for me, I stick with portions from now on", which would be sad, because portions don't give the same satisfaction, taste-wise and nicotine-wise and "gum-easyness"-wise, like lössnus does.

Just my 2 cents and no pun intended against the "portion-only-guys" here. Most of my own consumption is portions, but only for the convenience. Without the regular prilla of lössnus I really would be missing something.

    Cheers!

Didn't happen to me, but I'd say its not unusual. IMO an average sized pris (2 clicks on an Icetool) would easily rival a stark portion for nic content. I find that when I hand bake I always make my pris waaay too big so I get a proper jolt of nic, especially with Skruf Stark and GES

I def. got a buzz the first time I used Los. It's gone now though. You can use your tongue to help keep it in place, but delicately. Los is an art!

I think there are three important points for those just trying los:
              1. One of the most important things to do as you begin with los is to give your lip time to adjust to having a pris under it. Give it about 2-3 weeks (depending on how often you use los). Once your lip adjusts, everything gets a whole lot easier.
              2. Second, the mistake that most people make when beginning is to make the pris too big. So I absolutely agree with KarlvB, make the pris smaller.
              3. Third, I think finding the pris placement that works for you is also very important. I’ve seen all the Swedish videos where people put snus under their upper middle lip and for the life of me I cannot fathom why. For me the placement that works best, is more discrete, and is easier to control is on the side about 3 teeth back from the two front (too far back and you will generate more saliva and thus mudslides, too far front and it just did not feel right to me)

Now as far as playing with the pris with your tongue: I found that letting it set up and kind of mold to the mouth worked best before fiddling with it (a few minutes, until it feels settled). Then play with it all you want. Once it’s compressed and in there, it will be far less likely to break up or have parts pulled away by the tongue.

Finally, and I cannot stress this enough, the real trick is taking your time and finding what works for you. I think one of the most important aspects of this forum is the sharing of ideas, techniques, and experiences- not as a rule of how it must be done- but as various ideas (things you may not have thought of) that you can try, mix and match, and adjust to fit your own preferences.

Hope this helps, give it time, and snuson my friend.

Also, I would love for you and chainsnuser to share your ideas over on “A Dipper’s Guide to Snus”. I think they will be helpful beyond just this post. Chain, I’d just cut and paste your post above and stick it over there.

Here is the link to the guide:

Well, I just did a quick check with my fingers to see if there would be anything about my gums that would seem to work better where you mentioned. Somewhere in the middle, I've got a nice little snus pocket built up. Not quite deade centre, but not as far back as you. I think it comes down to where you keep putting it. After a while, it gets more comfortable there.

                  Exactly!!

So if you are having trouble in one place, don't keep putting it there just because someone else does it that way. Try it somewhere else that is less awkward and then give your mouth time to acclimate.

My favorite spot has always been the top off center left! I always switch positions but right there just feels alot better than any other spot when I have a pris in!

I agree. That's where my los goes every time. Portions I will switch hit.

Well, I am glad someone agrees with me! I have always wondered if other people shared the same expirence.

You definately have to give it some time, a few weeks or so, before your mouth and the pris get dialed in. Once you do though it's like heaven. You get to know where to put the pris to get the most out of it...be it comfort, taste, even drip factor. Example; I know that if I put one on the left center side of my mouth I get more drip than right center for me due to the construction of my mouth I suppose. Sometimes that's what Im looking for....and sometimes Im not. I never get that with portions..not to bag on portions cuse I use my fair share, but they are more "set it and forget it" for me.

As for tounge and all that jazz, I poke/prod/lick/eat mine all the time and they dont mudslide on me. Again, comes with time. Los is the shit. Well worth the initial frustraion of finding your groove with it.

Placement and what not doesn't seem to be the main issue, just the taste and feeling after I spit it out. From nice blissful headrush to a sickly feeling. Maybe my body is still getting used to such a heavy nicotine intake in such a small time. Its been a long time since I've smoked!

But thanks again for the replies!
