    I'm guessing it has to do with the random omlaut on bö$$. Quick check at a Swedish-English dictionary just comes up with bössa, for rifle, or boss for boss. Unless there's some slang that I'm missing, seems like a weak joke. Don't know.

            Partial credit

            In swedish:
            Lös=Loose
            Löss=lice

            Bösse or bøsse in danish=queer, fag.

            And as I live just across the sound from Denmark, locally we use some danish words in slang and bösse is one example.

            For example: Bössen hade löss = The faggot had lice.

            Funny? maybe not, to me it was as I saw the thread title.

                  For my one year of Norwegian lessons, I'll consider it okay. The Danes are strange people though. Norwegians tell me that Danish people sound like they're speaking Norwegian with a potato in their mouth, and the Danish kid that was living here last year told me the same thing about the Norwegians, but with the roles switched.

                    Danish and norwegian are very similar in writing, but the danes have the potato, dont believe the danish kid

                    Norwegian and swedish sound more similar in speech, generally, except for the southern dialect of skånska (which I speak ) which is more tilted to danish sounding. But it´s a big mess the whole thing
