    Subtilo:

Arg, that's what I thought. I wonder if there's a way to remove that plastic on the inside. As soon as I finish the can of Lucky that I'm working on, I might give it a shot.

Well, my Icetool came today. What a nifty little tool it is!

Instead of using the Lucky Strike tin, I figured that I'd put my old tin of Camel to some use. One of the rectangular tins. The fit is perfect. If I had a digital camera, I'd post a picture, but alas I am behind in the times and cannot.

      In any regard, problem solved.

Warning: My post will be incredibly dorky.

So I got tired of the styrofoam not staying put and of the fabric color. I went to a craft store and picked up some Sculpey ultralight polymer clay and made a thin "bed" for the icetool, baked it, did some shaping and actually glued some fabric to it, and voila:

I had to trade lids with the Skruf Stark loose tin to get this to work. I don't know why I did all this. I think the idea was just planted in my head and I couldn't get it out until I found out if I could really do it.

Note the advert engraved down the side.

Ah, that's not dorky. I'm considering doing the same thing. As soon as a tin comes along that fits my Icetool, I'm going to use that instead of my makeshift Camel tin. It's a nice, very useful little gadget and I'd like a tin that does it justice. The Camel tin just doesn't cut it.

I'm considering doing some alterations to the interior plastic on the Lucky Strike tin to make the Icetool fit properly. It's just such a cool tin, it would be a pity to use it for anything non-snus related.

Definitely not dorky. I like this version much better than the first. The gray material gives a nice contrast to the white plastic, and silver IceTool.

And SMC... I would do everything I could to get the Lucky tin to work. That's probably the coolest looking tin out there. I guess I'm biased being American, but I love the Lucky design. I'm not sure what I'll be doing with my Lucky tins, but they'll definitely be saved.

Yes, I love the tin as well. I've always loved the Lucky logo. When I was in 4th grade I saw the logo for the first time during a "dangers of tobacco" lecture by somebody from the local hospital. I loved it then and I love it now.

As for the lecture itself, well... we all know how much good it did.

Well, I've come to find out that with a bit of wiggling, the 3ml Icetool actually fits perfectly inside of the Lucky tin! I have a few portions left, so I'm not storing it there yet, but tonight I'm having coffee with a lady friend and I'm sure that'll take care of those last few portions. As has been said before, Strike snus goes excellent with coffee.

                      Reusing Tins/Tin Mods

I had a quick question for some of the more scientifically-oriented members of SnusOn, but I thought this would be a good place to bring this up, since it's in line with my prior posts along these lines.

I'm out of town all week this week, and I want to take some of the new portions I ordered along with me. However, I don't really want to mix them all together in a re-used tin, so I broke out the UltraLight Sculpey again, and made this:

(Sorry for the poor quality -- light's bad this time of night.)

Here's my question: Since Sculpey "clay" is a polymer compound, and the baked result is semi-porous, can this alter the moisture content of my portions and possibly the flavor? It doesn't seem to have its own aroma, but if it leeches out moisture from the can, can it reduce the flavor of the portions inside?

                      Thanks in advance.

It should be fine, I think. Sculpey is PVC, which is quite hydrophobic (doesn't like water - it beads up and rolls off) so I don't imagine it would draw much, if any, water out of your portions. Think you're good to go!

Thanks, Zero! I was kind of banking on your being able to answer this.
