    1847 Snus (White Portion) review

1847 Snus, A portion snus made by Phillip Morris AB. I have been waiting a while to try this snus, due to the bad reviews I have read, but I decided recently to give it a go. First of all, the name. Let's review some events from 1847.

    The year 1847: (From Wikipedia)
January 4 – Samuel Colt sells his first revolver pistol to the U.S government.
February 5 – A rescue effort, called the First Relief, leaves Johnson's Ranch to save the ill-fated Donner Party. These California bound emigrants became snowbound in the Sierra Nevada in the winter of 1846–1847, and some had resorted to cannibalism to survive.

There you have it. Guns and cannibalism. Because that's what this product will drive you to. You will either want to kill yourself, or go Dahmer, because ANYTHING is better than this product.

The smell. Goodness, that smell. It's a rank, rotten smell mixed with women's perfume. (and yes, the snus was in date - I checked the can). The taste. Quite possibly the worst snus I've ever had. I put it into my mouth and immediately tasted hominy (which is weird, because I like hominy, but for some reason the hints of it in this snus are NOT good at all). A very VERY heavy taste of bergamot, and about 20 pounds of pepper. And that's 1847.

Why buy it? The can is pretty awesome. It's a great addition to your collection (if you - like me, are a can collector). But the snus is quite possibly the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth - and I've had chocolate covered crickets and kimchi.

Damn, another bad review. I want to try this one just for all the bad reviews it's getting. It can't be worse than Level.

Remember, chadizzy hates bergamot, so that biases his review.

I feel the same way about mint snus, as he feels about bergamot. Quite possibly the only exception is Emerald Ice Discreet, but that's more like candy than snus.

I think 1847 is a great lemony, earthy snus. That earthy could be interpreted as bitter by some, I certainly was taken aback by it the first time.

I like the bergamot taste. Might still pick up a can one day.

PM1847 original is one of my favorite portions. I'm in the minority in this regard, but I love it.

true. anytime i include a review of a regular snus, my reviews would appeal more to those who don't like bergamot. what i'm including in the hell box are things you guys may view as your favorites, because i can't stand the stuff.

                  Also from 1847:

Lots of people had syphillis and the clap.
                  Women didn't shave their legs.
                  No one bathed regularly.

It's amazing how the human race reproduced in these times :P

                    That you are, sir.

1847 is pretty fooking horrible. I gave it the benefit of a doubt and ordered it several times, hoping I could get into it (mostly because the tin is so awesome). It actually ended up tasting worse. I'll most likely never order it again, which is a shame since all of the tins I received were slightly dented.

To be fair, the regulars do taste better than the whites, but not nearly enough. :P

Ehh, I'm a man of finicky tastes. Who knows, it might become your favorite; that's always how this game works. If anything, it would be worth it just to get each of the tins.

1847 was like a one night stand for me. I absolutely loved the very first portion and then for some reason it became rather ordinary very quickly. I have no clue why, it definately has a unique taste. I managed to finish two cans and it's a snus I recommend everyone try atleast once.
