Stay away from the portions, they're terrible. The lös is a reasonable choice, and Chad has a review of the blue here...

Sounds like y'all been there done that. I will stay away, until I'm just feeling lucky, or get one as a mystery can or something.

I found the Phantom Classic lös to be terrible and binned it half way through the can.

The smell was one thing (and I use quite a few starks so I am used to a slight ammonia smell) but the artificial taste was something I just could not get past.

In the Los, I think all three are worth a try. I'm not saying they will be your top pics or even regulars for you but they are certainly good enough to merit a try...and for the price you arn't taking a big risk here. I'd make em a throw in with a larger order....and who knows, you may even be presently surprised. I know I was.

I have an unopened can of Phantom(Rothbrix) Classic Loose, which I haven't gotten to, as I've taken a break from los. I have been currently using Phantom Brown White Portion, and it's not terrible, but I don't think I "like" it, but with Phantom, and Offroad, and Odens, what I initially liked, has gotten old and unlikable now, and that is they all seem to have this sweet waxyness about them, and something about the portions I find uncomfortable. In retrospect, I think I used them too much, as for me, they have a high burnout rate. If I'd kept it to one of their portions a day, maybe skipping a day here and there, their initial goodness may have stayed.

Whenever you find this waxy texture (be it in snus or American dip) it is the result of a processing method intended to offset the cheep cut of tobacco leaf being used. Compare Copenhagen with a budget brand. You will find the same thing. This texturing is my primary complaint with the V2s. It’s not a deal breaker, but it does limit the regularity of my use of their products.

Likewise, though I'm not a big portions guy, my guess is the portion materials V2 uses is also a cost cutter.

                          Phantom

Phantom brown white portion snus is the only snus i've ever tried and i love it so far. I'm new at this and it's my first order. I like the taste but i have nothing to compare it with however it's thumbs up from me.

Phantom Loose is fantastic. I use primarily Blue and Brown, but always keep a roll of classic on hand to change the pace on occasion.

The new white portions are great as well. V2 has done an amazing job maintaining the flavor of their loose in the translation to portion. The original portions are also 100x better than they used to be a couple of years ago.

The bottom line is this: Buy a can, try it... if you hate it, just take slightly shorter showers each morning and you've recouped the cost of the can. If you love it (as I do), you will save yourself a boatload of bucks each year.
