Ok, I've tried all of my first order

I went ahead and opened every can so I could try them all. Couldn't wait. Like a kid at Christmas. Here are my first impressions of each one. I know from what you guys have said that my tastes will probably change but just wanted to share my initial thoughts on them. None of them matched the taste of Discreet but still enjoyed most of them. I was a little disappointed in that I didn't really feel much of a nic hit on any of them even the Extra Strong portions. I was hoping to get by with one portion at a time.

    1. Thunder Frosted Extra Strong portion - This one is my favorite so far. Superior flavor to me and so smooth.

    2. Thunder Extra Strong Blue - This is a close second but not quite as good as the Frosted.

    3. Elixyr Power Energy portion -Not sure what to say about this one other than I was pleasantly surprised. Sage, you were dead on in your assessment of this being a great snus.

    4. Göteborgs Rapé No2 Portion - Just was really overall a pleasurable experience.

    5. Thunder Wintergreen ES portion - This was the only Thunder flavor that didn't blow me away but still enjoyed it a lot.

    6. General ONYX Portion - My favorite of the Generals. I will keep some of this around for sure. You might know it was the most expensive.

    7. Probe Portion - Another very smooth tasting snus. I will buy again because of that reason.

    8. LD White Portion - This one was kind of middle of the road for me. Just didn't jump out for me.

    9. General Extra Sterk Portion - Not bad but not something that I will have to have in my stash.

    10. General Portion - Sort of like the LD, just didn’t do a lot for me.

11.Grovsnus White Portion - This one for right now just didn't tickle the taste buds at all.

    12. Odens ES Cinnamon (Kanel) Portion - I wanted to like this one so bad because as I mentioned in other threads, cinnamon is my favorite spice. The flavor was very bland and the nic hit wasn't what I expected either. Definitely not on the do over list.

I will say for me, my newbie initial tastes, and even now, change over time. Snus I hated I like now, and snus I liked last week, I don't now.

On many of your assessments, I agree. But for me, a snus like Grov white, if you use it alone for a couple of days, the flavors become apparant. But sometimes switching off alot, and I do it too, can interfere with becoming acclimated to a a certain snus.

My mind may change, and I still have a lot of various snus to go through, but I'm wanting to narrow it all down to 2 or 3 faves and stick with that.

You came to snus from cigs. correct? (I can't remember.) Your not gonna get a nic hit from snus like cigs. It's more of a slow ride. The Thunder Frosted did hit me pretty hard though. The Grov didn't sit well with me either. How long are you leaving the portions in? It usually take about 10 mins. for me to start feeling the nic. bliss from them, and the release usually lasts up to an hour. But it's not an immediate "hit" like cigs. it's more gentle.

Agreed. For me, and I may be an expection, I only use one brand of snus per day. Actually I try to limit myself to one can open at a time. Usually takes me 2 to 2.5 days to finish a tin. I find that it takes atleast a day for your pallete to detect all of the flavors in a particular brand of snus.

I forgot to add that of all the snus I have tried, there where only two that I couldn't handle using all day. PM1874 and Phantom Blue portions.

No, I came from mostly Grizzly pouches and Camel snus with some Skoal and Copenhagen pouches in the mix. Did do some long cut Grizzly, Skoal Edge, and Kodiak. I haven't smoked in probably 7 or 8 years. I saw on Northerner that Kodiak comes in a pouch now. I might order some of that if I ever order from them.

I am leaving them in for about an hour on average now. I will also try doing one flavor at a time to get a better feel for each flavor. I just wanted to give my first impression of each.

I wonder if part of my problem is that as SnusDog mentioned in his dippers guide that my body is missing the other crap that America dip has in it?

Might be. I think cigs. have other things in them that make people crave as well. I couldn't tell the difference between Grov, General, and GR1 when I first started, but after 2 weeks, they're like night and day.

I like Grov regular portions much better than the whites. I guess that applies to all snus, but it seems the plainer varieties really benefit from the final wetting stage.

One day I'll try the regular/browns. What about Ettan? Same thing?

I think Ettan is great. I could just use Ettan originals exclusively.

In my opinion, yes. Remember that I prefer regular portions anyway, so I'm biased out of the gate. I think snus like Ettan, Grov, and Skruf need the extra moisture to boost the flavor. I've had whites that I thought were fine, but they've been the more strongly flavored snuses(Catch, Göteborg, Metropol...)

                      PMD,

Great review mate! I want to second what Tom said. Spend some individual time with each snus. Flavors will cross pollinate (so to speak). A few days with a brand will give you a good feel for it.

Also, after a little time with each, take those that you are not wild about, seal them up, and stick them in the freezer. Come back to them later. You might be presently surprised.

Again great review. But then I would expect nothing less from a fellow Carolinian. 8)

Thank you sir. I appreciate all of your help as well as the rest of the SnusOn community. Community is a great way to describe it. Feels like a local neighborhood.

If you didn't like the Thunder Wintegreen, try the General one. I didn't like the General one, but was okay with the Thunder one. So you may be backwards.

Good on the Thunder Frosted. We'll get along just fine. Isn't it the best? I don't know where I'd be without it.

The Elixyr is good, I'm glad you got into it. You can be a part of the Elixyr clan, because so many people here talk down about it, but it's really not as bad as they make it seem!

This is great advice and worked for me. I burned thorough 20 different
cans and quickly zeroed in on my top 5 and tossed the rest in the freezer.
Upon running out of those I started thawing the better rejects first
and quickly found most had a lot to offer that I missed in the first
                              taste-fest frenzy.

                              Regards,
