A year ago I came upon an informational video report that introduced and explained Swedish snus and its popularity in Sweden. 7 months ago I began smoking in a small way by sharing a single Djarum Black with my girlfriend once per month. I don't inhale the smoke. There's that, and during Christmas I smoked two anisette flavored cigars. So I'm taking it easy, but I enjoy smoking a lot and if it were not so bad for you I would smoke more. I found myself beginning to eye the cigarettes on offer at convenience stores, and thinking about cheating and smoking more. I noticed Camel snus one day, last month, and picked up a Mint tin. It was alright, sort of. I began reading online about snus, eventually learned about General, that it's legit Swedish snus sold in American stores. I found shops on their site, picked up General White Portions, Dry Mini Mint, and then Wintergreen over the course of 2 weeks. I have all three still and have been rotating them. The mini mint is the best portion size for my tolerance level, but I don't like the flavor of it enough to stick to it alone.

I have mixed feelings about becoming a daily tobacco user with snus. It does erase my desire to smoke more often, which I was becoming nervous I would give in to. Nicotine is kind of an interesting drug, and I am having fun, though I wish I could access more varieties in stores. I am not willing to buy in bulk nor pay those crazy shipping prices. I will closely watch my gum health and I'm not going to use loose snus because of what I've read about it being worse for your gums than portion snus.

I posted this less than two months ago.

Instead of being "embarrassed" about the post (I'm not at all because every word was a fact when I posted it) I think that an update is helpful to the forum and especially new Swedish Snus fans.

I have found that (as recently stated in more current posts of mine) I am leaving Swedish Snus. Who knows I might have a change of heart down the road.

Basically, I have whittled down most things in life that are absolutely not on the top ten list of life's little pleasures. Trial and error eliminates things (for me) at the speed of light these days.

Also I am a life long "minimalist". If you walked into my house today you would see what that means. Think hoarder and go away 180 degrees.

Dip and Cigars are my final choice in the "vice game" of life today.

I married a Swede in her hometown of Malmö. Back then I was a heavy smoker. We were having dinner with her cousins, and the drinks were flowing. I was chain smoking as usual. Her cousin took me to a gas station and introduced me to General Portion. I didn't think anything of it at the time except it was a nice buzz. Two years later, my smoking felt like it was catching up to me. I was huffing more than usual after runs, and my chest felt heavy, like it does after swimming all day. I ordered 5 rolls of General Extra Strong portion, and one roll of General Extra Strong Lös, and except for a few slips early on while drinking, I haven't had a cigarette since.

Since then, I moved almost completely off the portion snus, went from hand baking, to an ice tool, to a farmer's pinch. The only time I use portion snus now is when the wife and I go out, or I need to be discreet.

Ordering 5 rolls of extra strong los snus is the way to say I'm done smoking. Loaded for bear, so to speak. Congrats!

Been a smoker for 14 years of full flavor ciggarettes / 2 packs daily. Always said I would quit, but became increasingly concerned in past 3 or 4 years. Have 3 young children and want to be around for them. I tried many times, pills, patches, gum, american dip, nothing worked. Every attempt became harder and harder and gave up hope. One day a month ago i said screw it and threw the pack out the window, with no plan, and bought a can of dip and just went with it a few days, discovered swedish snus onliune, placed an order, dipped smoke free til it came. got it 2 days later and never looked back. I actually enjoy the snus more then the ciggarettes, cant beleive it. found a new enjoyment thats acceptable to pop in anywhere. the smell of smoking already is making me sick, and dont plan on having another one again. Its only been about a month, but this time i know it will work. never made it this far before. I am 28 years old, so hopfully even as a heavy smoker. I can reverse most effects of smoking.

Went to Stockholm to study for a year. Being there, a swedish friend gave me portions when we used to go for drinks (I don't remember exactly which snus he used to give me but I think it was Thunder Frosted ES). It was ok but I didn't care too much for it as I was still smoking. I remember I bought one can before I left Sweden: Lucky Strike OP.

A few months ago, smoking started causing respiratory problems so I decided I would stop smoking and start snusing (I'm ok consuming nicotine via snus for the moment). Managed to place a few orders and here I am

                    Hello everyone, i'm new here!

My name is Mattias, i'm a swedish resident and i started using snus when i was 14 years old. I'm currently 27 years old and still using snus. I started using it basically to be cool, i was as i said only 14 years old, and my mother said at the time that i was allowed to, as long as i promised not to smoke.

I'm currently using Göteborgs Prima Fint loose.

Welcome Mattias! I smoked as a teenager to be cool (people could see you smoking, so I'm sure I looked like James Dean, ). I sure wish that I started with snus instead, but it's all that I use now. Wise move on your Mom's part.

                        I like tobacco.

Smoked cigs but quit those in the mid 80's. Smoked cigars for twenty plus years after that and then took up the pipe a couple of years ago. Early 2014 I wanted a break from all smoking but I still wanted some nic. I tried Camel Snus and really liked it. That lead me to the forums where l quickly discovered how crappy Camel snus is. I jumped over to locally available General snus and loved it. I then made a few orders from Buysnus and tried a lot of different brands. After all that I'd say my favorites are General mint, Ettan Los and Roda Lacket Los. I also still like Camel Mellow even tho it gets a bad rap on line. I can see how easy it would be to quit smoking with Snus 'cause I don't care if l never light up tobacco again. That's my story.

I have smoked about one pack of cigarettes for 25 years with a few intervals. The last few years i noticed a definite reduction of endurance when doing sports and I was coughing a lot. I wanted to quit, but that was more of an abstract thought for a later date. 2 months ago I caught a bad flu with an even worse cough (my muscles ached from coughing). I was unable to smoke and decided that, no more procrastination, time to quit. I bought some Oliver twist which really helped, but it made my teeth feel all grungy despite frequent brushing. In Switzerland Snus in portions are not available to buy. So I tried al Capone vanilla and thunder berry loose. I hated the loose stuff, it kept getting in my teeth and was not practical when I was not at home. With cut up teabags I tried making portions which was a bit better. Then I ordered in a Snus shop in Sweden and was amazed at the selection!! I received the package last week and it's fun trying out the different kinds (I ordered about 20 kinds, all white and in portions). So far I've tried al Capone mint which is great, a nice minty taste. Phantom slim which I find okay. Art citrus/menthol which I really like. Wow honey I found totally revolting. I haven't smoked in two months and instead use snus or Oliver Twist 3-5 times each day. My endurance is much better (no more avoiding uphill walks) and my cough is completly gone. I appreciate not smelling like an ashtray and having to go out for a smoke in terrible weather! My next order I want to try DOS which is a mix of snus and chewing gum and EPOK which is totally white and the flavours sound good. It will probably take a while to find out what I like the best. It's a joke that they don't sell snus here, it made it so easy to kick the smoking habit and the health benefits are enormous. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but since about 15 years I have terrible hay fever in the springtime and this year absolutey nothing! Long live snus!!!

I was a heavy smoker for about four years, back in january I caught a bad chest flu and couldn't smoke, I tried and it really hurt! This led me to realize how horrible smoking was for my lungs so I decided to quit, I dipped for a few weeks until I found swedish snus, I ordered some and have never looked back, I find it far superior to cigarettes and dip. So glad I found snus, I can exercise again and my blood pressure is healthy for the first time in four years!

Thanks a lot Chad (Chad Jones, The Snubie.com guy?). Your blog helped me a lot! If you're ever in Upstate South Carolina, I owe you a beer!

I was trying to quit smoking but it never worked. I have been a smoker for 4 years. A pack or more a day. I tried Nicotine Replacement Therapy, using cigar/pipe, Chantix/Champix and it didn't work. I was getting sick and asthmatic every once in a while, something that hasn't happened for 10 years. Smoking has got to go!

I am into Swedish stuff. I drive Saab, and a friend of mine, in my country, is crazy about Saab & Sweden. He traveled to Sweden a few times. One day he gave me a KickUP portion and told me there is no tobacco in this, and it is called Snus. I didn't know why he mentioned that it's tobacco free, so it never occurred to me that snus is a tobacco product. In addition, you don't (usually) find commercial smokeless tobacco in my country...

But one day, I was in the United States, staying with my American family in South Carolina. Walked to a gas station before they closed, and for some reason picked a pack of Camel's this time. Walked back, sat in the front porch to smoke. I was sick, coughing and kind of depressed. I took a look at the pack, and saw a coupon for Camel's SNUS.

I though, wait a minute.. isn't this a Swedish product? Hmmm, looked up Snus, Quitting Smoking with Snus, and landed at snubie.com. The gas station has closed. I was in a rural South Carolina town. Next morning I got me Camel SNUS and it helped a but. It was weak, and I read on snubie.com that it's NOT designed to replace cigarettes, quoting camel's "Where you can't smoke, Snus"

Looked up where I can find Swedish Snus that same week, found General in stores & Northerner online (they had great selection in the US warehouse). 3 to 4 days after buying General, I stopped smoking. I also ordered different flavors from Northerner while I was staying in the US that summer (2012). I remember the 12 hours flight back home was much easier that time because I had a can of Phantom in my pocket, and a roll of Jakobssons in my checked bag. But when I ran out, didn't know how to get more snus, so I smoked for two weeks until my friend came to visit from Sweden with a rescue care package: Two rolls of General White and General Regular. I decided to never go back to smoking. Ever! Snus is more enjoyable and is much less harmless. My friend has made friends in Sweden, and he had them bring over some Skruf since I never tried it before.

I also managed to make orders from Northerner to my country and realized that my package was misplaced in the mail. My work has a faculty mail box area and student mailbox area. I am a faculty. I went to the faculty mail asking if I got any package from Sweden? Then one of my students told me that there was a note in the student mail center with my name on it! It's been sitting there for over a month as the stamps show. I ordered again from Northerner and the mailman misplaced it again. This time, though, I was checking both centers haha. I couldn't use SnusCentral or BuySnus at that time. Only Northerner worked since I used my BoA card with them when I stayed in the US (I presume).

It's funny that when I first started using snus, I used to go out and snus on the porch. The reason why snus worked for me is that it could go with drinks like coffee, tea and alcoholic beverages.

I now have better health, I can breathe, I don't cough, and I realized how horrible I smelled when I was a smoker.
