I was trying to quit smoking but it never worked. I have been a smoker for 4 years. A pack or more a day. I tried Nicotine Replacement Therapy, using cigar/pipe, Chantix/Champix and it didn't work. I was getting sick and asthmatic every once in a while, something that hasn't happened for 10 years. Smoking has got to go!

I am into Swedish stuff. I drive Saab, and a friend of mine, in my country, is crazy about Saab & Sweden. He traveled to Sweden a few times. One day he gave me a KickUP portion and told me there is no tobacco in this, and it is called Snus. I didn't know why he mentioned that it's tobacco free, so it never occurred to me that snus is a tobacco product. In addition, you don't (usually) find commercial smokeless tobacco in my country...

But one day, I was in the United States, staying with my American family in South Carolina. Walked to a gas station before they closed, and for some reason picked a pack of Camel's this time. Walked back, sat in the front porch to smoke. I was sick, coughing and kind of depressed. I took a look at the pack, and saw a coupon for Camel's SNUS.

I though, wait a minute.. isn't this a Swedish product? Hmmm, looked up Snus, Quitting Smoking with Snus, and landed at snubie.com. The gas station has closed. I was in a rural South Carolina town. Next morning I got me Camel SNUS and it helped a but. It was weak, and I read on snubie.com that it's NOT designed to replace cigarettes, quoting camel's "Where you can't smoke, Snus"

Looked up where I can find Swedish Snus that same week, found General in stores & Northerner online (they had great selection in the US warehouse). 3 to 4 days after buying General, I stopped smoking. I also ordered different flavors from Northerner while I was staying in the US that summer (2012). I remember the 12 hours flight back home was much easier that time because I had a can of Phantom in my pocket, and a roll of Jakobssons in my checked bag. But when I ran out, didn't know how to get more snus, so I smoked for two weeks until my friend came to visit from Sweden with a rescue care package: Two rolls of General White and General Regular. I decided to never go back to smoking. Ever! Snus is more enjoyable and is much less harmless. My friend has made friends in Sweden, and he had them bring over some Skruf since I never tried it before.

I also managed to make orders from Northerner to my country and realized that my package was misplaced in the mail. My work has a faculty mail box area and student mailbox area. I am a faculty. I went to the faculty mail asking if I got any package from Sweden? Then one of my students told me that there was a note in the student mail center with my name on it! It's been sitting there for over a month as the stamps show. I ordered again from Northerner and the mailman misplaced it again. This time, though, I was checking both centers haha. I couldn't use SnusCentral or BuySnus at that time. Only Northerner worked since I used my BoA card with them when I stayed in the US (I presume).

It's funny that when I first started using snus, I used to go out and snus on the porch. The reason why snus worked for me is that it could go with drinks like coffee, tea and alcoholic beverages.

I now have better health, I can breathe, I don't cough, and I realized how horrible I smelled when I was a smoker.

Nice story Addola. Thanks for posting it!

    Where are you on faculty?

Thanks! I was told I am a good story teller. I advocate snus to those around me that smoke, and wouldn't give it to those that don't use tobacco.

I was a lecturer in a university called KFUPM in Saudi Arabia. Now I am working on my PhD in the United States.

Good luck on the PhD. I know that is a big commitment.

I've been using smokeless tobacco for most of my life, started when I was 15 and been going ever since. Switched to snus this year and can't imagine ever going back to snuff. I love it. I've already gotten 2 smoking friends into it, one quite smoking altogether, and the other I'm still working on but I imagine he'll come around as he's already had a lung removed due to cancer. Coming from snuff, los was what really drew me in to snus. Now I'm starting to warm up to portions as they're so convenient. I've had two big orders from snuscentral so far and will place a third soon, this one with more portion varieties to try.

Tobacco grew on me when I was young. Young enough to play pokemons twelve hours a day... Mom and dad where smokers, and one day my mom made me take a puff on one of it's mentholated, believing that I would be disgusted by the taste. In fact it wasn't that bad. Several years later, I was walking dogs for money, so always out of my mom supervision. On one of those walk I found little cigars flavored with raspberry. Guess what? I smoked them all in the park. Then I started buying cigarettes to a friend of mine who was a smoker. I then took a long break of tobacco due to some changes in my family life. A couples of years later, I was walking in a little town shop who was selling cheap tobacco pipes and it made me dream. I bought one and started smoking pipe. Then cigars. Then cigarettes... But tobacco was for me one of my best friends and it's still one. Same year that I started smoking cigarettes

I started smoking freshman year of high school. At first, it was a cigarette every couple of days, then every other day, and soon everyday. Started dipping for a while, and went back to smoking. 7 years later, here I am, now a snuser, and I hope to stay that way. I had my last cigarette yesterday and haven't needed one since. The taste started to turn on me which was a contributing factor to me switching, that, and the fact that I started waking up not being able to breathe until after having one. While I bought 10 cans to start (should've bought more with the price of shipping), I have only tried General original extra strong portions.

At six years in, I can say that I have not heard of these symptoms. You may have another underlying problem.

I would have to agree with Burnsey, never heard that one before.

You see that a LOT on the vaping boards I go to, all kinds of problems saying it is vaping, but never return to the thread to answer questions. I have gotten to where I ignore posts like that from someone who only has 5 or less posts.

I was doing camel snus after 4 days tooth cracked/chipped.
Switched to white Swedish snus called dryft & a couple of weeks different teeth are chipping little by little when I eat.
                          Just flushed it all down.
But, that was some good stuff, but I think I'd rather have my teeth!

I have a difficult time understanding how anyone's teeth would suddenly crack, from Snus use.
Like others here , I'm of the opinion that Snus has saved more lives than it has harmed.

Lmao, no ones teeth suddenly cracked from using snus. That's impossible
