    Grov re-visited

So when I first had Grov white about 4 months ago I thought it was ok. Pretty good actually. So I ordered a few cans of Grov black which I enjoyed, but towards the end of the last can (I guess about a month into just snusing without cigarettes) the black started to taste like pickles and vanilla to me. I finished the can, then didn't have Grov for two months. I opened a can of Grov white yesterday and all I can taste is pickles. Don't get me wrong I love pickles, but with my snus, No thank you! So I tried a black as well; nothing but that same pickles and vanilla. I guess my taste just don't get along with Grov.

Am I the only person who taste this? I really can't stand it and don't think I will be able to finish the cans. For me, this snus has really bitten the dust I will never buy it again. I quickly used General white afterwards and it really did clean my palate up.

I think this maybe the first time I heard the description of "pickles" used to describe a snus flavor. I have a special place in my heart for grov. It was the first swedish snus I ever used. For me it has always been a rock solid no frills snus. Goes great with coffee, likewise goes great with a beer. I am sorry that it has turned for you. Are the cans relativley fresh? Could it be something in your fridge (old food, leftovers, etc.) "infecting" your snus?

I get pickle notes in Grove White, too. I still like it though... Love me some dill pickles.

The cans are fresh and i find the longer they are out of the fridge the more pickle taste I get. It is faint don't get me wrong, but for me its there. More so with the whites than the black. Since I quit smoking my taste buds are really coming back.

I love Grove Black, but only as a once every month or two type of thing. Any more, the flavor turns on me.

I too have had mixed results with Grove White. Last go around, i seemed to really dislike it too. As part of my Retro replacement quest, I will try it again next week, curious if I still dislike it.

Best advice, just put it all aside, and return in 2 -3 months. Snus tastes are strange. You might love it again after a 3 month absence.

Hmm, I've never detected a pickle taste from Grov Black; Kronan is the only one I've had that has sort of a dill taste. I did get hit with a lot of vanilla though.....probably too much, because I only made it past 2 tins before I just could not stand it anymore. I'm not really a fan of Grov in general, anyway.

I've only had Grov white once I think, and I like a can of black every couple months, but I don't think it shares a whole lot in common with the rest of the line. I say try the original or the los. To me those two are some of the most "pure", straight tobacco-and-salt snus out there. Grovsnus original was my first favorite portion, then the los made me a los convert as well. No pickles.

I have been using Grov Regular and whites in rotation exclusively for the last month, really enjoy the taste actually, I do not get the dill.
