    My first thoughts

Going 100% cig free as of today. Flat broke, out of smokes, and I refuse to roll pennies for ciggs when I have all of these cans to try out..
So today I gave all of them a try..

    1. Ettan white - really salty, couldn't really taste much of the flavor
    2. Roda Lacket - salty, only tasted salt, and some flowery sweetness but not much, thats it.
    3. Gote rape no.2 - flowery and salty, kind of a wierd taste, not bad but nothing I would buy again
    4. Thunder frost mini - My absolute favorite so far, not much salty, perfect mint taste and smell, small portions, full nic, loved it...
    5. Gen wintergreen - first time around I didn't like this, but today, it really hit the spot, tiny hint of sweet, tiny hint of salt, nice smooth wintergreen flavor, lasted awhile, gentle nic hit.
    6. Catch eucalyptus - Sucked... Too much salt, not enough menthol.. calmed down after awhile but still way too salty for me. Really didn't like it.
    7. N&J regular strong - Resembles Cope, little salty, but not too bad, stronger nic hit, to my noob tastes, it tasted like Ettan, and Grovsnus, and General regular.

Theres my first thoughts as a noob trying all of these for the first time today. I haven't smoked today, so my taste buds may be a little off, and y'all say you get used to the salt, so I will revisit these later and see if my taste buds have changed. But right not, not a huge fan of sucking on salt tablets, so some of these didn't agree with me, but I will come back to them later..

Seriously though, just getting used to the salt thing, it's really strong to me right now. I'm sure a lot of y'all here had the same first thoughts.

I think the sensation of being too salty will pass with time. Almost everybody has had the same reaction in some degree or another. It was a shock for me after the Camel, but the salty sensation diminishes over time, and the subtleties of the snuses will reveal themselves to you. You'll taste things in the snus you had no idea were even there :^)

I sure did. That is, some of them seemed almost overwhelmingly salty at first. That calmed down for me considerably in, I dunno, a few days, a couple weeks--I gotta be honest with you, that first week or two I barely even remember. It was a one-man snus orgy, a tasting frenzy. I was the Tasmanian Devil in a snus whirlwind.

Yes, as everyone says, just give it time. Soon, the salt recedes and you finally can begin to taste the yummy good of tobacco. Patience for now is all I can ever counsel.

I remember that first cig free day. It felt good, but....odd. Guess my nic habit was satisfied, but my hands were bored.

It hasn't been bad, I've been really tired all day though, think whatever else was in the ciggs is giving me with drawls. Really really tired for no reason, I'm chugging 32oz dews and still sleepy.

I couldn't even tell you when mine was. It was so organic, so unplanned or thought about. I just was smoking less and less, and one day, I guess, just forgot to smoke at all. And I didn't buy a new pack. But have no memory of the day at all, cause it just wasn't special. Was more like, btw Josh, you never remembered to smoke at all today.

Dude, I totally feel you on the salty factor, especially when I first started.

I came to Swedish snus by Camel Snus and my first purchases were General Mini Mint, and Wintergreen. I got a can of Skruf and Odens, and at first I wasnt feeling it.

Gen. Wintergreen is my Go-To for sure, but i've run out and won't see a shipment for a while. I've been using the Skruf and Odens, and MAN have I come accustomed to the salty flavors.

I recommend trying to force yourself to JUST use the salty ones for a week or so and you should come to love it very well.

Give it another few weeks, you won't even be able to taste the salt any more. You just have to "get used" to it for a few weeks. After, the salt almost completely disappears.

As everyone has already posted the vast majority of people coming to snus from cigs complain about the salt. And their tastes acclimate.

My advice would be to take the three brands you liked and stick with those until they are gone (freeze the others for later). If you still like the three you might even want to order another round of them. Then, after round 1 is gone (and round 2 also if applicable), go back and retry the others on your list.

I think you will be presently surprised. For now stick with the ones you can tolerate. Believe me it’s worth the effort!!!
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

When I st did snus, all I tasted was salt, and it was like little bags of salt, and I couldn't distinguish one snus from the other hardly. But now it's all changed, and in a week or so, it should be for you too.
