The past several days. And a new chapter, it seems.

I've been out of my house the past 3 days and off work for the past 2, so I thought now was a good time to try my new turn in snus.

When I left the house, all I brought with me was a few portions of thunder frosted, a can of Oden's Kanel ES, General Silver, General Onyx, and General Maxi.

I wanted to make a point to try snus and not chain snus ones with a high nic content. So throughout the past few days, I've alternated with the General products (which I'm really enjoying), and maybe one Thunder Frosted each day. Oden's very lightly. General Maxi sparringly, and General Silver and Onyx the rest of the time.

What I've found was surprising. I wasn't using as much snus to make up for my lack of nic content. I figured I would, taking out Thunder Frosted (which I chain snused), it was interesting. I've actually been enjoying non flavored snus, and when I would use Thunder Frosted, I found it was different, my tastes buds weren't as used to it, seems the inevitable "turn" was happening.

I've found myself enjoying these General products alot more, which is good for me as I'm going to be trying alot of other "regular" snus/non flavored snus in the coming weeks. It was just interested, as I thought I'd be craving my Thunder Frosted more, I found I was using less snus, and felt more satisfied.

I'm sure the token "I told you so" posts will follow, but I thought I would share the next steps I was going through, and how I was enjoying it.

    I told you s....

    Wait, I never did.

I think I almost started at the opposite end of the field from you. I went for General, Ettan, and anything else that seemed pretty close to just pure tobacco. (I was under the mistaken impression that General was basically the same as Ettan, or I might not have even tried it at first.) But now, some of the flavors are reaching out to me. It's mostly the subtler flavors, true; I'd still rather go for, say, a Claq Qui or N&J before the Thunder Frosted, but those aren't too bad. I've even found myself craving a General wintergreen white after finishing off a can a week or so ago, and getsnus kindly sent me a mystery can of it just today. Nor would I mind another bit of J's IceFruit at some point.

It's so interesting to follow yours and others' snus adventures while I'm on one of my own. Please keep reporting on how things are opening up to you (reverse psychology--yeah, that'll work--clam up, Chad! )

Very typical Chad. Yes, there are moments when I need that extra bit of hit, but not usually. If you just trust the snus, it takes care of the nicotine NEED all on it's own.

I use a fair amount of sterk through the day, less these past few months, but still consistent. But went 4 days with none this past weekend, never noticed it.

Just for money reasons I guess, I slowed down my snus usage a bit these past 4 months. I really chain snus out of habit, not because I need the nicotine. Interesting to put it into practice,

And NO, won't say "Told You So". This is an area you simply have to discover for yourself, not something that anyone can ever tell you.

A lot of the flavored snuses are 1 dimensional, and though they taste good, one tends to burn out on them. It's just too much of 1 flavor at 1 time. The plainer snuses have a lot going on with regards to flavor, but you have to put in a bit more work to appreciate them. The dominant flavors can also "change" depending on mood, and setting, so I think they have more going for them over the long run.

I have been working on reviews of all the General Products I tried, I was going to put out on big review of my thoughts on all of them - but here's my observations on General Silver.

            ---------
            General Silver

One of the many products I tried over the past few days from the General line was General Silver. I haven't seen many reviews of it, so I didn't really know what to expect. It was a unique experience, because as I've been trying alot of the "unflavored" or "bergamot" snus products lately, it's been a new world for me, because I haven't known what to expect. That, and my tastes have evolved (finally) to include these in the list of snus that I enjoy.

A more correct name for this product would be General Mild. Because in all senses of the word, that's what it is. To be honest, I could have tried this months ago and probably enjoyed it, because all the flavors are very subdued and mild. General Silver is an original portion, and has a lower nicotine content than most larger sized snus. Each 1 gram portion has 6mg of nicotine. (remember, Original General has 1 gram portions with 8mg of nicotine per portion).

That being said, a little about the flavor. General Silver is very balanced. I say that because there isn't really a predominant flavor - every flavor that comes through is in hints, and is very subtle. Very balanced. Nothing overpowers anything else. With each portion you can equally taste the citrus, the tobacco, and the salt and pepper are equally balanced in the portion. Which is why I would say "Mild" is a fitting name for this - in both nicotine and in flavor. True, you DO get hints of the flavor. But none of it is strong or dominant. Each flavor that most General portions are known for is very present, but very mild and subdued.

Like I said, if I would have tried this months ago I would have liked it. But seeing as how it came after I had tried General White, I do find it to be a bit....average. Not saying it's not good, just not for me. However, I would strongly suggest it to anyone (like me) coming from a flavor-exclusive world to expanding tastes like I have experienced lately as the flavor is mild and balanced just enough that it would be a great first snus to try out and get a "feel" for snus of this variety, but if you are already in the Bergamot Club, you might find it to be a bit average.

I found nothing remarkable about General Silver, just bland. Same criticism I make about Skruff White (NOT Stark)

Does anyone else agree with me in that General Silver tastes 'soapy'?

That's about what I got out of it when I tried it (once) a long time ago. I don't see the point, really.

Hmm... I never got soapy out of it. I kinda liked the flavor except that it didn't seem to last long and the portion was an odd consistency.

This is one I'm not likely to even try, unless I get to where I've tried almost everything else and I want to cover all the bases for the hell of it.

Lately, the more of these I'm using, the more I'm finding I'm actually drawn to General White. It seems like it's the most balanced, pure tasting of them all. Granted, that's only from the General line, and I start LD White soon, but my observations so far.

                              LD white is better.
