i started snus with no smoking background aside from the occasional black and mild and hookah. i started snusing years ago with camel and tourney, i do snus because i find it enjoyable, and because i am at this point an addict. the same reason you ex smokers are addicts, because you took up smoking when you found it enjoyable, or stress relieving, or whatever. irresponsible? whatever. i dont really give a shit what anyone thinks about my reason to snus i guess.

It's not. If you enjoy it, why worry? It is your life!

I largely took up snus cuz I just wanted to. It interested me. Like people drink, or smoke, or do drugs. It's not "good", but what is? And it's less "bad" than the things I mentioned.

Why would it be any more irresponsible then any other pleasure. From what I have read snus only moderately increases you chances of pancreatic cancer. Less of a health risk then many other pleasurable things.

I wonder if I just got on sagedil's nerve because I said I don't like Sage Francis in another thread?
No, not on my nerves at all!!!!!

So, you DID smoke, so the reminding wife of that will work. even if you "successfully" quit for a period. Since you have decided you want nicotine, snus is so much better AND cheaper. I'm sure your wife would understand.

          However...

Had you never done nicotine, and just voluntarily submitted to a new addiction, AND one that costs money. Your wife would have the right to be a bit peeved. And though there are specific reasons to choose nicotine, I live with one of them. Having no need of nicotine, and getting yourself hooked, just because you like the "flavor". Yes, I think dumb.

Still, everyone has the right to make their own decisions, but I still have the right to think it is a dumb one. But no one, NO ONE, has to defend their decision to me. Still, I stand by my statement that I think that would be dumb.

Just doing what I always do on Snuson, telling it like I see it.

I think compulsively buying cigs to feed an addiction is dumber than trying snus and getting hooked

Well just remember that what you see is filtered by your own situation and what is true to you is not necessarily a universal truth. So labeling others does no one any favors other then maybe boosting your own ego at the expense of theirs.

Agreed. I think ALL adults who start smoking as adults are dumb.

I was 9, my excuse.

I'm not boosting my ego. And I would wager that a majority of folks here wouldn't think it was a smart idea for someone who never used nicotine, to start using snus as an adult. I am really not that far out when I say this. And I am never judging an individual person, I am just judging the wisdom of their decision.

Nothing you can say will change that. I have NO morals against drugs, I have used plenty in my life. And *some* of those decisions were dumb <ie, my 3 years speed habit in the late 80's>

But if a friend of mine asked me my advice, I would say that I thought it was dumb if he was gonna start using snus with no nicotine history

And RRK, NONE of this applies to you. You had smoked, the quit time doesn't matter, you had smoked. So snus VERY wise for you IMHO.

If that is your intent then the way you express it seems off.

Sometimes, please forgive me if you took it that way.

Cool, as an artist I am very critical as well but I try to follow a pretty strict philosophy of expressing it. I think everyone should be critical, opinionated, and expressive. I married a women that is all of those things and I appreciate it I just know that I will get an ear full when I spend $60 in two weeks on luxuries.
