Curiousity killed the cat... But I'm still kickin'

So, after reading about the Probe Whiskey line I've always been afraid to try it. At the same time, however, I'm a big fan of a good irish whiskey and would love the flavor in a snus. So what I'm curious about is whether or not anybody has any methods or theories on possibly adding a little jameson or such to a tin of portions. Would the flavor stick? Would the alcohol stay? Should I leave the tin open for a little while to let the excess moisture evaporate? Thoughts, theories, ideas, bitches, moans, complaints, experiences? All feedback much appreciated

V2 made some "Moonshine" snus a while back. It was OK. Probe Whiskey is OK, but it got old to me kinda fast. But I didn't think it tasted like whisky, and I'm kinda glad.

I've only gotten one can of Probe Whiskey but I like it. Not a lot of whiskey taste though.

You can check out the thread over in the talk with the professionals section called new flavor. We are talking about flavoring your own snus.

Also, I have seen extracts for a few different alcohols online.

Real whisk(e)y's pretty subtle in snus type quantities. I think your best bet for flavor would be to get the snus pretty dry, then add whisky for flavor and moisture. I think an Isley scotch would be your best bet for flavor, but Black Bush, or Red Breast might work for Irish. If you wanted to do American whiskey, a small batch bourbon would work best imo.

The alcohol will evaporate given the right amount of time. I once flavored or spiked some onyx with some "herbal" tincture. and no that probe taste nothing like whiskey it taste like a sweet version of Level or Ettan.

Normal production involves dissolving essential oils in ethanol so it can be evenly distributed in the snus and then the ethanol evaporates away leaving just the flavor.

Essential oils are very concentrated so I don't know how much whiskey it would take to get the desired effect.

You could also go with essenses they use for homebrewing like this

Agreed except to me it tasted just like American chew (Beechnut, Levi, Redman, etc...).

                Just too sweet IMO

As a fellow Jameson fan, Probe is definitely not what you're looking for. As others have stated, it tastes very little like whiskey (with an "e," anyway). The closest flavor I got out of it was a very subtle Bourbon hint. When I say subtle, I mean I've snused nearly an entire tin and tasted something that resembles Bourbon maybe twice.

As for flavoring your own, I'm not sure. Never tried it. I would be interested to hear how it goes, though.
