    blasphemy!
no, i agree on this one.

i hear married couples bitching all the time about not having sex, and i'm like that's because you WORE IT OUT when you were dating. i try to not do it as much when i date someone, so if it goes anywhere it'll stay fresh.
Yea, I'm gonna have to disagree with you guys on this one!

These ideas are pretty decent, but more that that, they are realistic at least.

Myself, I would like to get the entire Snuson community involved in creating our own brand, own flavors, open up our own factory and take over the U.S. market and not have to worry about job security every again. We would be a smaller business made up of people who are really passionate about their product. We could make snus and nasal snuff. Or perhaps we could even be a sub-division of Swedish Match and Toque in a combined effort for reaching other areas a little easier.

However, my idea isn't the most realistic, at least until I win the lottery. But then again, that isn't the most realistic either. Damn it.

I have waited to respond to this.

#1. No. Simply No. I use snus for my own reasons, part of a greatrer discovery of the joys of tobacco. My own reasons, I usually don't wish to explain, couldn't care why someone else uses.

Well, sorta. I hang out here so obviously care at some levels. But just almost retched at the idea of attempting to craft some guiding philosophy. Just the opposite of the whole reasons for me.

#2. Great, I know some folks really get into this idea. Not me. Just has never been my way with anything, just more interested in using what I know. But see no reason not to do #2 if interest enough. Just understand that some won't be interested.

I try to be deliberate with pretty much everything I do and I read philosophy books and other nonfiction in my spare time so maybe you can see where I'm coming from. Definitely not for everyone but it has been good for me. Just wondering if anyone else might also enjoy this type of approach to snus.

Also, does anyone want to offer up some criticism on the second idea? At least 6 people think there is some kinda problem.

Sure, but do you see this dependance continuing for the rest of your life. I wouldn't want to develop a hatred for snus as I did for cigarettes. To me this is a control issue and I don't like to give up control over my life. Too much control is being taken by outside forces as it is, IMO.
Yeah, I can certainly feel what you're saying here.

Hasn't exactly been my experience though. At first, yes, snus for me was solely an avenue to smoking cessation, and ended up being a very successful one. But it has become more than that, it's become an appreciation for this particular form of tobacco use, and even an appreciation for the history and traditions surrounding it.

It's also kindled an interest in Scandinavian history and culture which I didn't exactly have before, outside of the whole weird Black Metal subculture. So that's been a good thing too.

But I can't really see myself developing the hatred for snus or snuff that I did for cigarettes. I hate cigarettes not because of the addiction, but because of what they were doing to my body.

And it's not so much a dependence issue for me anymore, either. I still crave the nicotine, but not like I did with cigarettes. I have a snus when I want one, more than when I 'need' one. I go through about one can of lössnus per week, and 1 to 1.5 cans of portions. So 2 or 2.5 cans per week on average, and I restrict use of starks and extra starks to an occasional treat. So I'd imagine I'm somewhat under the average usage.

I do find the second idea intriguing. At Whole Foods they have racks upon racks of flavorings that I think would go well with snus.

Yeh this is exactly what I am talking about. Snus is a pretty amazing thing and I hope more users could get past the whole nicotine issue and reach the want rather then need stage. The limiting your self part doesn't necessarily have to be a part of it, but for me it is important. I don't think I could trust my opinion of snus if my mind needs it.

I'm thinking this is something that maybe comes with experience. For me, 'starting' was two years ago now. And I was ok with just regular strength snus from the start, luckily--I was just a pack a day smoker with a moderate but worsening addiction to nicotine, and had things like borderline high BP, high resting heart rate, and sleep apnea....to all of which I could rightly point a finger at cigarettes as at least a major culprit. Quitting eliminated two of them, and at least partially improved the other.

But some who are trying to switch really kinda need the extra boost that your Thunders and Odens and General Extra Sterks offer them, to stave off those awful cigarette cravings while they break the psychological habit that smoking brings with it. And that's fine, although I'll usually advise people(when asked)that they should keep one eye toward stepping the strength down when they feel ready.

That's funny, I don't think I can trust your opinion of snus cause you use it so differently than me, and 99% of the people here. You use 3 a day. Your business, but not how or why I use.

If you had spent 2 years here, you would realize just how insanely wrong this sentence is... "I hope more users could get past the whole nicotine issue and reach the want rather then need stage." I have seen literally thousands of people here develop a deep and abiding love of snus, regardless of nicotine issues. As I have posted MANY times, my deep love of snus come from the very fact I no longer ever have to think about nicotine. It is just ":taken care of". ALL my thoughts now are just about the snus I love, and why I love one over another. Has led me to love snuff. And soon, a pipe every now and then.

I don't know how you can read the same Snuson I read, and think hardly anyone here isn't operating from a want standpoint, not a need standpoint. If need controled, I would just smoke.

Now THIS is the only form of smoking that I actually kinda do miss. My pipes and tobacco have been sitting in the cupboard for going on three years now. I think about packing one up now and then, but I always end up convincing myself to leave well enough alone. Just afraid, I guess. :?

Afraid of what?? That it will lead you back to cigarettes?? I mean, I already still smoke that occasional cigarette. Can't imagine a pipe would lead me more.

I have always wanted to. Guess I just had to wait til I was old enough. And friends now with a huge pipe guy, does all the pipe forums. So gonna let him teach me how to start, start me off with a bunch of tobacco samples.

My Dad smoked a pipe, I have always loved the smell, have always hoped I could do it one day. But my intense new found love of snuff has me really interested in continuing my exploration of tobacco. So timing is just right for now. Have to wait until early next month before my friend can buy me my first pipe.

I have fooled around with pipes off and on over the years. I have found that what I *really* enjoy is the smell of someone else's pipe.

I can leave my room after having a pipe and come back in a few minutes, and that's the nicest. Maybe someday I will meet a very sweet lady doctor with bad eyesight who smokes a pipe. Ahh, dreams.
