Plural of snus?

I've traditionally used snuses when using the plural. I know it's not correct, but it works with my American sensibilities. I REALLY like the concept of sneese though :^D I don't know what to vote for.

indefinite plural: snus
definite plural: snusen

The indefinite plural "snus" would be the most natural to use in English and just use "the snus" for definite plural. For my qualifications, I have studied Swedish for eight years at school and have lived in Sweden previously though my mother tongue is Finnish.

If snusar is plural form of snus then this sounds wrong to me, as in:

Jag köpte tre olika snus ( correct in my opinion )

Jag köpte tre olika snusar ( sounds very wrong )

Givetvis när man talar om dosor/sorter så är ju pluralformen snus, det kan du ju läsa i min insändare...en dosa snus/10 dosor snus....men när det handlar om antal snusar du använder per dag eller per gång så blir ju pluralformen snusar...eller :?:

Translation: Of course,when you mean: I bought three different brands of snus=plural
But if you talking about how many snusar you use daily/at the time, snusar=plural

Snus strikes me as a mass noun, like snuff is. So, even though I like the sound of "sneese" the best, "Snus" strikes me as correct (also despite my occasional use of the word "snuses").

If Octopus is Octopi, then my vote for the plural of Snus is Sni.

Except snus doesn't sound like octopus. It's not octopoose. It has more in common with moose, which is why I think the plural should be snus. Although you can't deny the comedic appeal of any of these other suggestions.

Ok there seems to be a bit of confusion over across the sea. Conflicting reports are being received. Mass confusion has ensued.

This leads me back to my hunch that snus is originally a collective (and thus has one but the one form).

So here is my question: Could one of our Swedes (blotgode, Chossy, or 58328832- by the way what the hell is that your gym locker combo? Anyway could one of our Swedes/Fins) consult a thorough dictionary and look at the proper forms and root of the word? A good dictionary should tell you if it is collective or not. It will also distinguish between the proper forms and slang usages that have been folded into common speech.

If anyone has access to a recent version of the big Oxford English Dictionary, that may help as well. I would love to see the entry (and no wikipedia will not do).

This reminds me of something from foreign language school in the Army:

A student complained to a teacher that plurals in Arabic didn't make any sense. The teacher wrote this on the board:

Goose:Geese
Mouse:Mice
Moose: Moose
Mongoose: Mongooses
Octopus: Octopi

The moral, obviously, that English is just as insane as any other language (or much more). I imagine Swedish has its own quirks.

That said, I am changing my vote from "Sni" for the snus plural to "Sneese."
