    Snus turning on you.

When you vet's say a snus turned on me. What exactly are you implying. Are your tastes changing, do you get bored with a flavor. I just don't get the statement. I've been chaining general and etttan portion for about two to three weeks and I don't taste or feel a change. Quite content! :?

Oh sorry, i thought you wrote Snus turning you on. I like to empty out cans and make erotic sculptures out of them..... we should have a snus sculpture contest!

I've found if you overdo something on a full time basis and don't vary it up, the taste will start to become something that you don't like as much as you once did. Not saying it becomes something you don't like. But for example, I chainsnused Thunder Frosted (damn near exclusively) for a month or two, and now, I don't. Not to say I don't use it, but I don't use it more than once or twice a day. Because my tastes don't crave it as much, and when I use it I find I don't enjoy it as much.

What did I learn from this? Vary up my usage. It's good to have a regular, or a favorite, but vary it up, mix it up. If you see my stash, you'll see I have a large variety. Not just because it's pretty (it kinda is, though), but so that I won't burn out on anything.

To me, it's just one I thought I liked, but got tired of, or it didn't have the appeal anymore. Usually a distinctive type. Simple, solid snus seems good forever.

A snus has turned on you when you stop reaching for that can.

cobrageezer, i can mean a couple of different things. Sometimes, the flavor just becomes more intense than you like. Sometimes, a flavor you had tolerated OK, suddenly, just becomes something you don't want to taste, again and again , and again.

I think the 2nd is more common. And reason many folks always vary the snus they are using is so their taste buds don't ever negatively associate something. If you use most any snus just over and over, just for many, not all, it just suddenly becomes "too much" one day

Many thanks Gentlemen: My snus usage has been limited till now. My first snus that I consider real snus was loose ettan. Loved the the taste, still do. I suspect I will eventually understand this concept. Have more of a varitiy on the way. God bless Get Snus. Grov, Roda loose, Onyx, Discreet reg, and more General. I can't yet bring myself to try the fruity snus varieties. I'm kind of a purest. Coffee should taste like coffee, fruit like fruit, snus like tobacco. Again my Thanks CG

Great question! I've been wondering about this too. Glad you asked it!

It is especially common with newer users JPono. Your first year, at least.

Give it enough time, your tastes will narrow, you will find snus you can use extensively that doesn't change on you. But I think I was past 2 years before that happened to me

Most people, after a few years, will eventually settle for just one flavour/brand/whatever. The snus I use the most is without a doubt skruf stark, but I'm enjoying a general lös right now, have a can of general wintergreen and general sterk in the fridge, etc. However without my skruf I'd go crazy.

+1 ...it's not boredom with the flavor at all. Something changes. The taste actually does change to something more harsh or bitter... or our 'perception' of that taste changes to a flavor less appreciated.

Either way, it's time to mix it up with something else, or forego that brand entirely.

I always thought it was snus going bad, as in:

"I slaughtered this horse last Tuesday. I'm afraid she's starting to turn."

I sometimes get bored of a certain snus. However, I could definitely survive on one snus if that was necessary, but I like exposing myself to different types. Even when I smoked cigarettes, I would switch brands often, in order to get some diversity. Hell, sometimes I would treat myself to Newports, even though I rarely smoked menthols, yet I really enjoyed the occasional pack.

I've been snusing for over a year and my mainstay snus, GB #2 hasn't turned on me yet. I try just about everything that comes out, in fact, I counted my cans with my wife last night and I have 8 cans of GB #2 (time to reorder :P) and 50 cans of snus I don't use regularly. I do alternate sometimes during the day.

When we mean turn, I think it's a combination of getting bored of the flavor and also just not enjoying it anymore or as much as before.
