    LD (White Portion) Review

    From my blog

LD (White Portion) Review. 8 Oct 09.

LD is a value priced snus from Gallaher. That being said, that is about all the info I could find online about LD before I tried it a few weeks ago. Surprisingly, it's not something that's very discussed. I say surprisingly because it is a really good snus. A good friend of mine on SnusOn, and someone whose opinion I respect said "OMG, why haven't I tried this?". I was quickly inspired to order some.

One thing that I really like about LD is the catch lid is a hinged lid. It's really cool. I keep my snus in my laptop bag when I'm at work, and I can't count how many times I've had a catch lid disappear. So this is something that I really like about this. Opening the can, I found a very mild, gentle aroma of citrus. Now, the one complaint I have about LD. The few cans of this I have gone through, I have found the portions to be very inconsistent. Bunched up in one side, or flat, just inconsistent. The amount of snus in the portion is consistent, but not the presentation. I have to fluff every portion I use. But that is the only complaint I have, and a very mild one.

On to the portion and the flavor. The white portion material is very comfortable. I can't really compare it to anything, because the look and mouth feel of it is something different from any other white portion non-flavored snus I've tried. But it is very comfortable. After fluffing the snus and putting an LD White portion into my mouth (and again, as I've said before - tastes vary), I immediately get a hint of chocolate. I don't know why, and it only lasts about 15-20 minutes, but this is in every LD White portion I try. After that flavor passes, the mild tobacco flavor comes in, accompanied with hints of a citrus flavor. Now, this is where it gets interesting. The citrus flavor I taste is not of bergamot, it's not lemon, it's something very unique. Mandarin Orange. I kid you not. I've never tasted this is in a bergamot label snus. So it was very interesting the flavor development that LD White takes. After an hour, the tobacco and Mandarin Orange flavors mingle, there is a very mild, but VERY subtle flavor of salt that is in the background, but nothing noticable unless you're looking for it. No pepper.

LD White is a great snus. I found a portion lasts between 1 hour and 2 hours. It's a value priced snus, which is a good thing - because getting something this good cheaper than alot of other ones is a hell of a deal. If you haven't tried it, or have toyed with the notion of checking it out, I strongly urge you to.

As I have already mentioned, LD White is a strong candidate to be my replacement for Retro White. It is really good, seems to hold up well. I would say it's flavor is a b it stronger than Camel White, very similar to Retro in it's balanced intensity

Wouldn't have tried it without your OMG.

But I've been really enjoying it. I ran out because I didn't know if I would enjoy it, but I was glad a package showed up today and it was part of it.

Very good and accurate review. I don't mind the bunched up portions as I fluff them anyway. This is def. the first snus I will order a roll of. I didn't know they were made by the same company that makes Level. That's kinda weird.

I was surprised too. The company that made the ultimate evil made the ultimate good. It's like the battle of Heaven and Hell.

I've long been a proponent of LD. When I first got here there was no love for the brand. It was a favorite from my very first tin :^)

Well hopefully some word can get around about it. It's a great product and no one talks about it.

LD has been among my favorite los snus since I first tried it. I think you are pretty accurate with your description of it's flavor. I always pick up a subtle dark chocolate vibe in there somewhere.

It's so interesting. And people say that about Ettan and I never get that from Ettan.

Last night I was using my 6th portion of LD white and when I put it in I got a hit of licorice, faint but clear, I was trying to detect the chocolate, no dice, just faint licorice. Very subtle.
wiki "Popcorn Sutton" a true COOT!

It's different, because I swear, EVERYONE says they pick up chocolate with Ettan, but for the life of me I can't.

The only snus I've tasted chocolate in was the Grov Black, and it's subtle. Ettan just tastes like pure good tobacco. mmmmmmmmmm tobacco.

Ettan smells like chocolate cake. It tastes nothing like chocolate though.
