    Snus is an environmental DISASTER!!

    This is funny...

Now that the anti-smoking nazi's are running out of things to lobby against, they are going full-on after snus.

Now they claim it will contaminate the ecosystem, spread disease, and kill our beloved pets. Is this the angle they are really gonna go with to try and keep snus out of our hands? (for our own good of course)

lol the pet one made me laugh.. Simple common sense is needed.. dont leave anything around that pets can eat (that isnt food) .. Snus or not lol Certainly not article worthy... same as their disease claims.. Unless someone grabs the snus off the ground and puts it in their mouth the chances of such a spread occuring must be below 1% lol

They'll use every angle they can, and they'll be helped by compatriots in the media; common sense, and facts be damned :^S

Chocolate is bad for dogs, or so they say. Why don't they just scream to ban candy bars?

Oh, wait, they probably will

I'm not worried about those. Look how old they are.

What they do is throw a bunch of shit against the wall and see what sticks. Since we haven't heard anymore about those I'd say those points failed.

They're concentrating on the flavored tobacco at the moment. That seems to be giving them the most traction.

ban on chocolate? :O lol Seems anything people enjoy is judged... They should go after McDonalds which is a far greater killer in the USA than tobacco ide think... Obesity is a national problem nowadays.. Yet ads to eat that crap are on daily almost every 20 mins.

Well, there are those who do go after McDonald's, or anything that "causes" obesity--remember "Supersize Me"? I was just thinking the other day what a great idea that documentary was, but srsly folks it's behavior, don't try to take away ppl's choices.

Heh, you got me dyin' for some McDonald's now <G>

Let me do whatever the hell I want, whether its good or bad for me, as long as I don't harm other people. Just keep the damned government out of my life.

I predict all of this stuff will mysteriously disappear after the big american tobacco companies are given a monopoly over snus in the states by the government. After the competition is flushed out we will start hearing about studies that show that it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The tobacco companies know they have to transition to a new form of tobacco but unfortunately there is already someone else that has cornered the market. Philip Morris is buying snus factories so you can bet it has a future in the US. I don't think Swedish match will necessarily be shut out but the big boys want to make sure they are on equal footing before they allow the juggernaut of snus to be unleashed in America.

                          snus litter

When I worked in Sweden, after one winter's snow melted, some group of clever idiots did a garbage survey, and counted down the top large companies whose litter was found on the ground. Among them:

                          Philip Morris
                          Swedish Match
                          Coca-Cola
                          7-11
                          McDonalds

They called publicly for these companies to pony up some cash to help with the clean-up.

Amongst the manufacturers, I (Gallaher) asked if littering was illegal in Sweden. The answer is yes. And don't we all have small icons on our packs which encourage proper disposal (the 'tidy man') and tout recyclability (the 'green dot') for which we pay annual fees within the EU? Yes.

Then, if littering is illegal, Gallaher's position is to address the Police to keep after the citizenry a bit more diligently. Philip Morris later said something clever on TV which put it to bed.

As cigarette companies, by 2006, we were not even allowed to provide the trade with ashtrays anymore. Stockholm in the past few years has thus become a giant ashtray, especially around bars and clubs where smokers are required to smoke on the streets. And there are still quite a few smokers in Stockholm.

Snus doses are not a litter problem at all. It's the cans which need to be disposed of properly.

For pet dangers, go over to the SM Q&A, and see that pH differences in the stomach from the mouth do not allow for a similar nic release. Max impact is probably the same as a hairball.

Our government is trying to ban cigarettes here for good, snus is banned allready. :P

Newest law just got trough that you cant smoke inside your car anymore?

                            **** me.

Btw, have you guys noticed how fcked up our minister's are?

E: There's so little amount of snus users in USA that its impossible that they would trash every place with used snus, and when I've visited Sweden, only thing I see, is empty smoke packs, not empty snus cans.

                            And atleast snus decomposes.

I think, with the dip and pouch use very popular in the US, it must me, as it's sold everywhere, I don't see used dip pouches and empty cans on the streets. I do see fast food trash, and cigarette packs and butts.
