I had an idea to replace some of the tobacco in a snus with some coffee and/or tea. Tea and coffee share many of the same flavor profiles of tobacco and I think this could help with a few things. It could give the tobacco a richer, darker, more fermented taste. It could help to lower the nicotine level while still having a kick, and it could reduce the cost associated with tobacco. I am finding it very difficult to procure tobacco that lives up to the reduced tsna levels of Swedish snus.
Of course this is getting further and further from the classic snus everyone loves but I am trying to produce something that fits my tastes from scratch and I haven't really developed a love for the classically flavored snus. I guess I am kinda going down the route of American snus. I know this is sort of sacrilegious for a lot of snus lovers but for those that haven't used a large amount of snus yet we don't have expectations of what snus "should" be.
So far I am already sweetening and flavoring my snus to a slightly smaller degree then a product like Discreet. Then substituting a bit of coffee and tea would be straying even more from the standard so perhaps a name change is in order. Yankee Tobaccy?
