    Snus and Dentures

So I have a buddy of mine that is interested in quitting smoking, knows I use the snus. He told me though that he wears dentures, the plastic covers the gum area.

I don't *think* this would be a real issue. But don't wear them so can't say for sure. Just strikes me that the nicotine would still find ways to get through the mucus membranes.

Anyone have any experience with this??

I got a full set of dentures top and bottom. It's not a problem. 8) Infact I'd hazard to guess it makes using lös a whole lot easier, less mudslides 8)

Thank you!! Exactly what I figured, but just wanted to make sure before I told him.

        Here's another thought.

It's very possible although the portion/prilla is kept under the upper lip. The majority of the absorption comes from surface areas throughout the mouth. Think tobacco juice, think how effective sublingual medications are...

I was a smoker for 38 years, 2-3 packs of Marlboro Reds and I still got nausea from too much nicotine when I started snusing.

That is exactly what I told my friend too.

I have a top set and have no problems getting enough nicotine .
Also sometimes i think it may help with some of the not so smooth portion material.

Great thread! I have been trying to get my dad to switch, he also wears dentures that cover the gum. He would use portions. So you guys are saying portions between the denture and top lip would still provide adequate absorption?

That seems to be the consensus. And makes total sense from what science I know about it all.

                    CoderGuy,

I didn't start using lös until months later, either will work with dentures.

I do prefer the original portions over the white portions. The extra drip may :?: help a denture wearer get a bigger hit from the nicotine and enjoy more flavor. I don't know if dentures are the reason for my preference but it might be a factor.

                      justintempler,

Cool, thank you. I have some Ettan portion so maybe I will try to get him to try it.
