    Female Snusers [Survey]

Do your female friends give you any grief over being a snuser? I can imagine females would look down on it....just curious what the friends/family/curious onlookers of female snusers say.

EDIT: To clarify, if you are a female who snuses, what do your female friends think?

Also, haha, it'd be cool to hear what spouses think of men who snus. As I don't have any, I don't really know what the ladies think of it.

    Poll?

Yes, my girlfriend hates it. However, she wouldn't date me if I was a smoker, since she has severe asthma. Relationship harm-reduction.

My girlfriend hates it. My wife doesn't care. My blue worms love it.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Good question, but I don't have an answer... I don't really have any female friends  The closest I guess would be my sister-in-law, but I haven't discussed it with her yet.

The only woman I've shared the fact I snus with is my mother-in-law. Her initial reaction: "Doesn't that cause mouth cancer?"

I sent her further information along with links to studies, and she basically said that it sounded like an extreme improvement compared to smoking and was glad that I (and her son) had traded in our smokes for snus.

She's visiting in mid-November so we wanted to prepare her ahead of time! It went better than I expected.

My females friends don't know I use snus. I love 'em and everything, but they are some snooty bitches who would think of it as 'dip' and 'manly.'

            Female here.

Ha, I've heard snus referred to as "dip" so many times, I just want to scream! Can relate to that statement..

            That said, good question, Chad!

My friends and family are happy I've given up smoking and have taken the time to research snus on their own. All good there. I haven't gotten a single bad comment thrown my direction. My dad, who is largely anti tobacco, has been really supportive. Same with everyone else around me.

My fiancee is perfectly fine with it. She met me when I was still smoking (about 2 1/2 years ago) and has been very cool about me making the switch.

She took the time to read all the medical studies and now completely agrees with the harm reduction philosophy behind snus.

She even quite eloquently made the case for snus vs. smoking when I got the usual questions about snus from smokers at a BBQ a couple of weekends ago.

Her argument was simple - snus is far less harmful than smoking (based on the volume of medical literature I've given her to read), is considerate to others around me (no passive smoke), and she has seen the positive effects on my health (can easily do five mile runs without breathing hard).

The only issue she has ever raised was when I went through a phase of using a lot of stark snus. In her opinion there was no reason to move from regular strength snus to starks and increase my dependency - a fair point I would think.

My wife/fiancee(I often say wife, as we have lived together over 10yrs), doesn't mind at all. She doesn't use tobacco at all, and we have a smoke free home, so it doesn't affect her at all, if she says anything, it's about the stash in the freezer, but that's OK. She doesn't care for the nasal snuff, and that's because she sees me nasally stopped up, and doesn't think that's good. But I am experimenting with not doing menthols, and I don't snuff all the much these days, I did yesterday, no menthols either, but am somewhat stuffy today, and I didn't bring any snuff with me to work.

So, she doesn't mind at all. No spit, no mess, no smoke.

My wife doesn't care for the nasal snuff either. When she's pregnant, she gets what she calls "super spidey senses" and can smell things far better than normal. I keep my snuff in a large freezer bag, and she can smell if I open it two rooms away. She doesn't care about the snus, she was even going to try it before we got pregnant. Now she quit smoking cold turkey, and hopefully will stay nicotine free or go to snus after the baby is born.

Female here too. Yes, my friends think of it as "dip" and that I am being "unladylike" LOL. But I really don't care what they think.

Well there is no "dipping" of anything, and no spitting. But I guess inhaling burning chemical laden leaves and paper is a-ok.

Female here...Haven't tried the snus yet, order is still on the way, but have been a dipper for quite awhile. Hubby doesn't like it, but I plan to let him try the snus also. Who knows, maybe he can kick the cigarettes if he likes it.

My female friends think it's the same as dip/chew no matter how I try to explain it. And nasal snuff seems to get a big "ewwww" from them too.
