Well I am a big idiot! I have a female friend who is working on kicking the cigs, unsuccessfully. I have been keeping my snus habit a secret but I decided to hell with that and introduced her to a Camel Frost. She's a candy junkie so I figured this may be the best way to introduce her. Well...she loved the flavor for the first few minutes and then suddenly she began complaining of chest pains! (She was speaking of heartburn/indigestion). I looked at her and noticed she had the portion in her mouth, on her tongue just going to town with it as if it were a piece of candy! I failed to mention that it goes under the upper lip! Anyway, she spat it out and had to sit down. She was totally open to the idea and didn't think of it as dip though! She has since moved away but I am working a little care package with a few minis, including a bunch of Discreet. I am even going to share my rootbeer with her! Anyway, I'm getting braver about telling friends about snus and that's all thanks to you guys! Next friend that mentions the desire to quit smoking, you better believe I am gonna be sending them on their way with a sampler of minis! As stupid as this sounds, but my snus usage is similar to some people's religious testimonies. Many people have stories of how they were 'saved' but may not necessarily want to share the info. with people right away.

desirexe, I am very open about my snus usage, without even beginning to try and be evangelical about it. If someone is interested from there, they need to make the first move.
I think it important to mention why I use it, without trying to come off as if I thing everyone should. Seems to be the proper middle ground for me

lol, i'm surprised that this is open to discussion since i've joined! n_n
i snus in class a lot, because most of my classes bore me. i've even snused during out of class projects. no one has said anything to me, or even asked what i'm doing. i'm sure that being from around here, they all assume it's dip. but i take the policy don't ask, don't tell. anyone who has never used it seems to have this stigma against it, despite all of the information available.
my close friends know that i snus (mostly doods), and they keep having this personal vendetta to get me to quit. my one friend will do some snus when he is with me because he claims that he is doing me a service by using up some of my snus.... and i tell him that i will just buy more (lol). probably the grossest thing is that i spit - i can't see swallowing the stuff at this point - so i think that's really the only thing that turns people off around me about it. most of my friends smoke, so it's a bit pot to kettle that they approach me about the snus.
my brother on the other hand refuses to let me snus in his apartment. but get a couple of beers in him and he has no problem with it. my bestie kelsey has only asked me a couple of questions about it, mainly what it tastes like, but she's a pretty open minded gal. my sister hates that i snus - always has this look of a wounded lamb on her face when she tells me to quit. she's perfectly addicted to energy drinks and cigarettes, which i try to explain to her is much much more damaging than what i'm doing.
i really don't try to push my agenda too much. if people have questions about my snusing, i'm happy to answer them. but i don't go around touting about the low tsna's to anyone who will listen. i figure that the ones who matter don't mind (too much), and the ones who mind don't matter.
hopefully snusing will catch on with more females to the point that it becomes less of a "manly" thing to do. and besides, what guy secretly doesn't want a girl who snuses?

I am also a female snuser. I have a hard time thinking of a friend of mine who DOESN'T smoke and I am the only one of them who snuses regularly, but I do not get judged in ANY way for it. In fact, every once in awhile I'll get a request for a portion from one of them (it usually gets spit out in a matter of a few minutes, but hey, at least they're open-minded to it)
I felt compelled to respond to this because I was surprised by some of the responses. I suppose I just have REALLY open-minded friends, but I honestly couldn't imagine being judged for snusing. Don't get me wrong, I'll have the occasional cigarette still, but it is beyond hypocritical to judge someone who snuses while you have a cigarette hanging out of your mouth.
And for anyone who had mentioned that they hide it from their friends because of their reactions, my advice is don't. Aren't friends supposed to accept you for who you are and your seemingly "disgusting" habits?

I'm actually a spouse of a Snus'r - and a new Snus'r myself.
I have never smoked cigarettes habitually - but I do enjoy cigars often and smoking a pipe as well. Both of those things are sometimes looked down upon even more than cigarettes.
Although - I have never liked the smell of cigarettes (and I actually wouldn't date a guy who smoked) - after years of being smoke free - cig wise - (hubby also smokes pipe and cigars) - the Hubs picked the habit back up to help deal w/ stress and aid in weight loss. (Weight that he had gained through the years of not smoking cigs) - I wasn't extremely happy about it...but I was supportive of his decision and want at the time.
As he was trying to kick the cig habit again - he tried Snus for the first time. I was SUPER excited - and still am for him. He is completely Cig Smoke-Free w/ the aid of Snus - and it has actually helped him in more ways than just being able to not buy "that next pack".) I am incredibly happy for him!
W/ the samplers he has gotten w/ some of his Snus orders - I've actually found a few that I'm fond of too...I'm looking to try more and learn more about Snus as well!D I'm happy the Hubs showed me this this forum!

I've smoked for 15 years, and in 2 days i completely stopped smoking
my wife is more than happy (she never smoked), and my children even more .
i breath with more ease, and the food tastes good.
Plus there's any chemicals ins snus (as in cigs, what makes me not anxious .
I guess the crave for cigs has much more to do with all the nasty chemicals than with nicotine itself.
been through the hollidays with people smoking next to me, and i'd never felt the need for a smoke.
I'm very happy

My wife doesn't say much about it. She's happy I quit smoking seven years ago now. I never dipped in front of her as I was even repulsed by the spitting. Now she doesn't even know when I have a portion in. She probably would notice los because my prises are gargantuan and the mudslides and all...you know....messy.
Everyone else I talk about it with thinks it's dip and there's nothing I can say to convince them it's different. Even if they listen to my explanation they're skeptical. I have one friend who smokes over a pack a day say that he would rather get lung cancer and not know it than to use that stuff and have half of his jaw removed. Oh boy...now I just say "do some research on your own if you'd like or I'll be happy to tell you about it." Most listen but I think they aren't convinced. There's such a stigma w/ oral tobacco. Most people that I know believe that it's MUCH more harmful to you. Keep smokin' guys...I'll visit you at your funeral.
