              Kardus 2009

I recieved a bit of information regarding the upcoming release of this year's edition of Kardus Superior Blend Snus and figured I'd share my thoughts on this info.

It's a well known fact around the snus world that Kardus discontinued everyday production of their product back in 2005. The reason being that Swedish Match felt the cost of production had just become too much to keep making this snus a profitable product year round.

              Their solution......

Packaging this product just once each year. Starting back in 2005 Kardus Superior Blend has been made available around the month of November. Each year this snus has been handcrafted differently in a variety of ways with the goal being to bring a unique snus experience to the consumer.

This year swedish match explains that they have chosen a unique blend of tobacco's in an attempt to please even the most pickiest of snus connoisseur's. They claim to have searched the world to find these tobacco's and have settled on an Argentine grown tobacco to be blended with a tobacco grown in Guatamala.

The Argentine tobacco is supposedly grown in a light clay at the foot of the Andes mountains. This sounds like a pretty awesome place to me that seems like it would produce a very natural tasting product, although since I have never been to this location it very well might be a dirty rotten pigeon infested shanty of a farm. Who knows? But I guess we'll have to take the word of Swedish Match when they say this tobacco has a "rich aroma that is sweet, fruity, spicy, bread with a hint of tea." Sounds good to me.

As for the Guatamalan tobacco, Swedish Match states that it is "a special tobacco which is grown and dried in the air in barns built of cultivated eucalyptus tree." This tobacco is supposed to have the taste of "elements of chocolate, nut and fruitiness."

These 2 tobacco's blended together should provide for a tropiclal type of taste according to the good people at Swedish Match.

With that considered how can one argue with Swedish Match when they decided this year to utilize a dark rum from Guatamala which has been stored for 23 years in American oak barrels to flavor this years Kardus snus? I for one have never had the pleasure of trying what is considered by many to be the finest rum in the world but look forward to getting a taste and seeing how it matches up with the Bacardi and Captain Morgan rums I have tasted. I'm sure it will be a treat.

If all that doesn't have you sold yet on this product swedish Match is quick to point out the process of the cut of this product is done differently than your average ordinary snus. With your normal snus the tobacco is minced and crushed with the whole leaf being used, stem and all.

Not with Kardus though. Only the "lamina" of the tobacco is utilized. I may not excactly know what that means, but it sure sounds like high quality to me. On top of it all this "lamina" is cut in a special way which Swedish Match calls "long cut". Supposedly this type of cut will produce a flavor which is milder, more complex and developed.

In closing I have to say that Swedish Match has me sold this year, and I have already placed my order for this unique, once a year snus experience. It's definately a bit expensive so for those of you who are on the fence I will be sure to post about the actual product once I get the chance to taste it and experience it for myself.

This took me about a half hour or so to write ChaDizzy, and maybe will give you a bit of an idea on how to utilize the information you are lucky enough to recieve when sharing it on your blog and here on this site.

I for one would be much more appreciative to actually see a bit of originallity from you when sharing. It seems to me you just want to be the first to break the news rather than sitting back and writing something a bit creative from the info you recieve.

Let's be honest here, with the amount of time you spend posting you obviously have the time to write something better than what I whipped up.

Until then, the grinning avatar will continue to signal annoying purely recycled info to this reader. Hopefully in the future the grin will signal here comes a quality informative piece of information that I actually look forward to reading since this guy has tried nearly every snus and should have a good idea what he is talking about.

              Cheers,
              Poo-Diddy

                Chad,
I personally enjoy your posts because as mentioned on your site, you write it from the noob point of view. You have provided some insight for me. I take what you post and what the Sagester posts very seriously.

                PMD

P.S. Curses to you Sage. You tried to tell me that my tastes would change. With me being an old hard headed redneck I never thought I would like "Non-Flavored" snus better than the flavored ones. Like I told you in a PM, I think I will just let you make my orders.

WTF poo? What do you have against chad? You act as though you are
paying to read chad's posts. Is this a "free" forum or what?

Chad's cut and paste approach may seem a journalistic horror story to
you but isn't it just information dissemination? What makes what you
wrote so special? Where's the additional information?
Earth shattering insights? Originality devoid of substance is your big
contribution? Looks, and reads, to me as nothing more
                  than duelling verbosity.

Who are you to instruct anyone in how and what to write? You present yourself as just another pompous ass with nothing but bitter bile to
                  contribute.

What is it with chad's avatar that sets you off? How can you even give
a **** about it? Do you have no life at all? What's next... a rambling
diatribe on the virtues of originality in avatar selections?

Sheesh, I thought nicotine was supposed to mellow one out.

The whole Kardus thing may be nothing more than cheap rum in
a can of Kronan with a half a dozen drunk-ass swedes spinning
out the marketing and laughing non stop at our dumb ****ing asses.

                  Here's a Bat's eye review ... original no less!

"Kardus 2009 is the latest offering to try try to tap into the American
penchant for anything that sounds "new" and "special". Nothing more
than Kronan soaked in cheap rum and stuffed in a shitty wooden box,
it's limited production run and exorbitant price tag has insured it's
success in the US, where the last vestige of critical thinking expired
                  during the last election cycle.

Many insiders are now claiming this heralds a new and enduring marketing scheme for the major snus producers. According to one marketing
executive, "Why should we bust our ass to produce a quality product
for the American market when those asshats will buy anything our
drunken marketing department dreams up as long as we charge
twenty times the normal price and stick it in a crappy wooden box."

                  Why indeed?"

                  Bat

.... and yes, my avatar totally sucks and is quite annoying. That is the
                  point tho', isn't it?

um, welcome I guess. Just standing up for free speech ya' know.

Just between you and me, ... Dude! the avatar needs some work!
It's just, ah.... um...... well, all nice and shit. Don't take it wrong,
but this is a snus forum and "nice" here is just kind of ,... well creepy.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a niceaphobe. I have friends who
are nice and my hair stylist and interior decorator are both nice.
I knew guys while I was in the Navy who were nice and had to fly
under the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" radar. I even think nice people
should be allowed to marry. I just don't think snuson is a good place
for an in-your-face, "I'm Nice and I'm Proud" thing.

Maybe we could all work to help you with the avatar? Knock out a few teeth,
add a 'stache and a few scars perhaps?
