    First Shot At Los

So after receiving my latest order I decided to dive into the world of los snus. Following the wisdom of others I picked Roda Lacket hearing that it bakes well for a first timer.

After watching the video I baked my first pris and put it in. I liked the feeling of los on the lip and gum's. But being the los newbie I developed mud mouth after about 2 minutes.

From now on I can definitely see at least a can of los in my order. Roda Lacket's flavor was very good and refreshing. Next time I hope to bake a proper pris or maybe order an Icetool.

Icetools are very cool, can not recommend them enough.

Just keep practicing and it will get easier quickly

Couldn't agree more. I greatly enjoy los, and getting rid of the clunky ol' Prismaster and getting a super cool Icetool made it alot easier.

      I still can't handbake. I've tried.

        Church, welcome to the forum.

A couple of thoughts: it sounds like you might not be compressing the pris enough when you bake it or that you are making the pris too big (my guess is the first one). Also, Roda and other finely ground snuses are easy to bake but tend to go to mud much easier than do other brands. I would recommend that you try one of the Phantoms (I really like the Blue) or Granit. These tend to be easy to bake and tend to stay together a bit better.

A while back I posted a thread especially for those trying loose. It's called "A Dipper's Guide to Snus". A lot of folks have shared their tips and tricks there. You may find some of it helpful. Rather than repeat it all here, I'll just provide the link. You can check it out if you would like.

Its way to early in the game to buy an icetool. You need to be the los first, live the los and breathe the los. If hand baking isn't your thing, and don't dig the hillbilly method. Then get a prismaster its just over a dollar and it makes a great prilla. Trust me, even a noob can enjoy los snus even without an icetool (i don't even use one nor a prismaster).

eh a prismaster is really only a tool of deciding whether or not you want more out of your tool enough to get an icetool. i mean it works out and i used a prismaster, but only for about a month before i took the plunge, and now looking back, i just thoroughly enjoy los more with my icetool. i still make the occasional handbaking attempt or hillbilly (usually with disastrous results) but id even be curious to take another stab at the brands of los i had before i got the icetool, to see if i like them any more than before. a prismaster will get the job done, and really you probably wouldnt know that its so inferior until youve used an icetool. but i havent gone back.

plus sometimes you might pack the wrong end of a prismaster. theres nothing cool about that.

I use the prismaster for measure, and then handbake. You must have patience in handbaking. I handbake at min. 2 minutes. When you first start out, go longer. Like snusdog said, compress it really good. The flavor won't come out as fast, but it will, and the pris will stay together a lot longer. My Ettan averages about and hour/hour and a half.

And def. check out snusdogs link. Loads of good info in there.

What you could do it pop the snus in the freezer. Then when its semi frozen or frozen doesn't matter. Just cut off a chunk. It'll thaw in your mouth in no time and you have an instant pris.
