I blame the New York tobacco taxes. Almost $8 a pack is insane. Besides, Snus tastes better and I can use it anywhere.
As I was paying for my coffee in 7-11 this morning, the guy next to me asked for a pack of marlboro lights and his cost came too $8.16! I was just shocked thats how expensive cigarettes are now in NY

                Welcome BillW!

Congrats on laying down the smoky thingies.
Lots of good info on here. You're in for a snus adventure.
                And it'll be GREAT!

Over time your taste buds will change. As you sample different
brands of snus, keep in mind that a certain brand that tastes bad
the first time might turn out some day to be your fav.

                  Another Newbie here

                  Hi, folks.

Jim from Maryland here. I've been snusing about 6 months now. I just wanted to thank the regulars here for all the great information you've posted. I've been reading these forums for quite a while and have gotten great information on snus and health, products to try, and general snus tips from all of you. I've quit smoking cigarettes because of snus and feel better now than I have in years (and I was a heavy smoker for a very, very long time). Well, I will admit to having a smoke occasionally when drinking but smoking is a very rare event anymore. I really prefer snus for the nicotine, flavor, and just general enjoyment.

Like many, I tried the Camel Frost products on a lark. Not bad (I have a huge sweet tooth!) and enough to get me started off cigarettes, but not real satisfying either. I started doing the research and found this forum. It has turned out to be the most informative snus forum out there and a big influence on the Swedish snus products I tried first. So, now I'm a daily snuser. I've settled into a pretty standard rotation now (and I'm a portions guy) which is:

General White (maybe my favorite taste)
                  General Onyx
                  Nick and Johnny
                  Claq Qui
General 01 and 02 (great for work because of the size)
                  Roda Lacket
                  Gote Rape #2

I also occasionally like the General Mini Mints and the Discreet brands for a change of flavor. I also keep some Thunder Frosted portions and minis around for a change as well.

GetSnus has been my go-to supplier. I generally get deliveries within a day or so (they aren't that far from me) and their service is great.

So, my thanks to you all for taking the time to post here and educate new people like myself to snus. I'm just sorry I didn't find snus 20 years ago!

                  Regards,
                  Jim

Took me about 32 years to find snus. I can't cry for what time I missed, I just thank God every day I finally found it.

You done good already Jim. I loved your posts about growing tobacco. I am a transplant from California 15 years ago, this whole tobacco culture was all new to me. But it wasn't until I quit ciggs and found snus that I started to understand what tobacco is all about.

Now, I snus, use snuff, and just recently started to smoke pipes and I am much more interested in everything tobacco. In many ways, I am so grateful I can better understand now tobacco and what it did for this state.

But you are most definitely a welcome addition.
