    Wintergreen...Yuk!

Allright, so Getsnus finally sent me General Wintergreen as a mystery can. I've never ordered any wintergreen/mint snus for a reason. When I was in high school, I experimented a bit with the Skoal. I only used it a short time, maybe a few weeks when one day I accidentally swallowed some. Needless to say it made me sick as hell. Never tried it again, and to this day (quite a few years later) the smell alone makes me gag.

Well I was reluctant to try the wintergreen snus, but I thought what the hell. The first whiff after opening the can brought vivid flashbacks of that fateful day of my Skoal mishap. I still decided to try it and managed to keep it in for about 15 minutes before the sickening sweetness made me take it out. It didn't make me sick like I'm sure dip would, but I definitely won't be trying any wintergreen again. Give me some good more neutral snus like Skruff or Grov and I'll be a happy camper.

I very much dislike wintergreen. I'm curious as to how it got so popular in America. AFAIK, this is the only country that really does wintergreen.

My first real non-Camel was a General Wintergreen, and I was really worried that my future with Swedish snus. I was greatly relieved that every other can I got I have enjoyed and it was the Wintergreen (doesn't taste like any wintergreen I am familiar with, such as gum) that was putrid.

At least I'm not alone. I always assumed wintergreen was generally well liked, but maybe I was wrong.

Solarist, I just read your post about your Wintergreen experience and how you like snus with coffee. Ettan really does go well with coffee. Some of my other favorites are Grov, Skruf, and General White. Sage recommended LD White and I have my first portion in now. So far seems like something I could enjoy.

What you said, and I'll add that General Ekstra Sterk, Oden's ES and Oden's ES Kanel rock pretty hard with coffee as well.

I like it OK now and then, but I would not buy it.

I've got 9 cans of wintergreen in the freezer, probably take me a year to get through it. I like it in spurts. Sometimes I get a hankerin for it, so I like to keep some around.

                    Wintergreen

I have a feeling if wintergreen was the only snus around I would still be smoking!

At this point - I think Ettan would go good with anything - loving the stuff!

I'd use General Wintergreen more often if the portions didn't rip open so easily.
