    Woh! Cheapest snus habit ever?

Now I know my use is very weird but I did the calculation today and I am only spending about $1 per week on snus.

I went through 2 cans of Oden's ES los starting October 5th and my premade portions will run out on November 18. So thats a little over 6 weeks. I may have used like 2 Nick an Johnny's portions over that time.

I flavor and portion my own 1ml portions which I think are a little under a gram. I mix in a quarter of coffee/tea mixture and I only use 3 per day.

I know most of you could probably give a damn but it just amazed me how cheap a habit could be.

How are you making these? Using the Oden ES Los? Where do you get the bags and how do you seal them?

It's cheap because you snus three portions a day

Anybody can snus cheap if they don't snus much. Adding flavors sounds like fun, and a way to get something you can't buy, but then you must add in the cost of the time spent preparing the portions, the time spent choosing and acquiring the supplies (flavors and portion material), and the actual cost, however small, of those supplies. Otherwise it is not truly an even comparison.

Buy enough rolls of, say, Phanbrix at Getsnus to get free shipping, and one can snus, at three portions per day, for $1.75 per week. If one is willing to simply take lös, it would be less than a dollar per week, at 3 1g prillas per day.

The key here is "3 per day". Your flavor adventures might make a cheap snus more interesting, but they also add to the cost. How much so is directly a function of what kind of value you place upon your own time.

Sure, thats certainly the main factor, but I think all of the things I listed make it cheap. I wasn't trying to say that its just because I do one thing or another. It actually works out to be less then $1 per week.

It does take me about an hour to make 15 full size portions and 12 mini's. But this is a weeks worth for me.

As far as cost of flavoring I use coffee/tea as a quarter of my mix which lowers the cost and I am only using vanilla and liquid stevia at a drop or two per portion which makes them last a very long time. I use about 3 tea bags per week and thats all the additional cost. Really, I was just amazed how little I was spending on snus, not trying to make any kind of statement. If I were to use the Oden's portions unflavored it would only cost me about $3 per week. I don't do it really to save money though over the long run I am saving about 65%. Also, I'm not sure what Phanbrix is but it's no Oden's ES.

Oh I have been adding taurine so that ups the cost a little but its hard to figure out the cost for that partI only use about a quarter teaspoon in a weeks worth of portions. It was $8.49 for 100g.

How can all the things you listed make it cheap? If you added nothing it would be even cheaper. Not that it's any big deal.

So if you make, for the sake of argument, $7 an hour at a job, then that's another dollar per day your snus costs you. No? Granted it adds value, if it tastes better than before, so I'm not arguing it isn't worth it.

Yeah, I didn't really figure the supplies were very much extra.

I understand, and I suspect it seems like I'm trying to some kind of big deal about it when I'm not, really.

I guess the best thing about this is you can have your spin on any snus--elixyr energy, goat rape, whatever--for pretty much the same low price. I just wouldn't want someone to breeze through and think, "oh, wow, if I flavor my own snus I can save $$$!!!" The savings comes from purchasing inexpensive snus and, most of all, from using very little. I know we are both in agreement on that.

But, come on, your title is a little misleading l-) The cheapest snus habit of all is some miser who buys umpteen rolls of cheapo loose on sale and keeps a single pris in his lip all day ;-)

I charge $40 per hour as a graphic artist. Unfortunately I have plenty of free time to waste on things like this. I do all kinda crazy things. I developed my own light weight concrete mix. I sculpt and make latex moulds. I make some of our furniture. I have been doing genealogy for my family...

Yes but is anyone actually doing that. And one of the reasons that I can use just three portions per day is because Oden's is so strong. Also, note my question mark in the title.

But no I didn't think you were making a big deal about it I just wanted to make sure that I was clear in saying that I wasn't trying to tell anyone they should do what I am. Just crazy how cheap it has been.

It *is* cheap, that is for sure, at least right now, even for a nic pig like me. I thought my head would explode when my cigarette tobacco went from $19 and change up to well over $40 per can, basically overnight. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that now. And it's why I'm stocking up like crazy, *before* it happens with snus. Not that I'm a pessimist or anything.

step 1 - roll your own
step 2 - switch to snus
step 3 - grow your own tobacco

Might as well be ahead of the game.

                    cheap snus

Bet it wont be cheap if PACT ever goes through! Snus goes for $7.00 a can in the tobacco stores in California.
