    First attempt at Lös: DENIED

So I decided to take the plunge and try lös. I ordered a can of Prima Fint from Northerner during the sale, and it finally came today. Unfortunately, it didn't really survive the trip:

As you can see, it got pretty well crushed and one of the sides buckled and burst. Damned postal service. I guess I'll have to try again some other time.

Is the snus still in the can? If it's not all dried out you could still use it. Even if it is dry you could re-moisten it and give it a go.

Anyways, that sucks. I get plenty of squished cans but not busted open yet.

Yeah, most of it was still in the can, but it got kinda dry and crumbly, so I'm thinking it probably got crushed early on after it left the warehouse. I thought about trying to remoisten it, but I'm not sure if it was opened at customs, and I'm not experienced enough with lös to be confident I'm doing it right. I figure I'll just try again next week. Maybe I'll order the Loose Snus Starter Pack from GetSnus or something.

You can be pretty sure that it was simply crushed and not tampered with. I would put in a bit of water, mix it well and let it set overnight in an airtight container and go ahead and try it. I know how curious you must be to try it. Its not going to be much different than a new sealed tin. Tobacco is moist when harvested, then its dried, then it gets remoisted again. Another remoistening isn't really going to make it different than it was.

          I love your signature...........

Maybe I'll give it a try. About how much water should I add? Are we talking a few drops here, or a few teaspoons?

And thanks for noticing the sig. It's a memebomb. I shamelessly stole it from here.

I would put in about 20 to 30 drops. mix it real well. setting sealed overnight will cause the tobacco to absorb the moisture evenly. Every morning I put 2 or 3 drops of coffee on portions I plan on useing that day.

I'm off to check out your link.....

The way I moisten tobacco is that I spread it out on a plate (spread thin and evenly). Then I take a paper towel and get it wet, wring it out real good (you'll have to be careful reopening the towel after the wringing out part so that it doesn't tear) then I lay the moist towel over the plate so that it covers the plate and rests lightly on the tobacco. Leave it for a couple of hours. Check it and repeat if necessary. I find that it is much easier this way to control the moisture level. I cannot tell you how many times I have over hydrated Tobacco

That coffee thing sounds like a good idea!

If it's dry, just add enough water(not too much) to bring it to life, and just dump it into another can, any old empty will do.

So I took everyones advice and revived the Prima Fint. I put it in an empty Taboca tin I had lying around, added some water, sealed it over night in the fridge, and it worked pretty well:

Here's my first pris, handmade and all:

It's holding up pretty well so far. I think I could get used to this, though I'm sure I'll keep using portions most of the time.
