The Bill That Wouldn't Die - aka PACT Act

Looks like the Senate Judiciary Committee is going to have another meeting on 11/19/2009 and will be discussing the PACT Act again. I have sent emails to Senator Feinstein and some other legislators but have not heard back from anyone.

So far no meetings or hearings for that day are listed:

      Hearings:
      http://judiciary.senate.gov/hearings...nth&p=hearings

      Meetings:
      http://judiciary.senate.gov/hearings...ion&p=meetings

Even the meetings/hearings around that date make no note of PACT.

      EDIT:

And if I am not mistaken, once the session ends, the bill gets kicked back, so the process starts all over. And since next year is an election year, I would *like* to think that this will get overlooked.

        PACT Act

I am hoping you are right but I am also wondering if the Senate Judiciary Committee just doesn't post their meetings that far in advance. I searched the previous congress' and it is rare for a business meeting to be held after early November. My guess is that even if it was approved by the committee there wouldn't be enough time to bring it to the floor. That article looks daunting though and I am not sure where they are getting their information from. It makes me want to boycott mini markets!

That's too close to Thanksgiving. They will be far too busy with booze and hookers prior to the holiday with their families.

            Good point, Vegan.

Even IF it get approved, there isn't enough time.

Plus, isn't there this thing called Healthcare getting talked about?

As the Govtrack website says, most legislation doesn't make it out of the JC.

What I find fascinating about this article is that it was published tomorrow (November 12th)

Seriously, what makes this all the more depressing is to think we might get taken down by a bunch of mid management wanks like these.

Nice artwork Snuso

The best we can hope for is that this crap will get lost in the machinery of the political structure, I'm afraid.
