boutique snus. Basically buy the tobacco from organic farmers. Similar to what American spirit does. Process it, package it, small scale distribution. I guess it would be a labor of love and hard to profit from. But make it just like the Swedes. Bring different flavors to the mix (a different thread thats on here somewhere). Do what's not done, like long cut los and unorthodox advertising. Grassroots stuff.

America now has hundreds of great little craft breweries - just look harder when you are in your liquor store - and if they don't have any, tell them to damn well order them in or you won't be buying shit from them.
A good hoppy IPA with Swedish snus.....mmmmmmm
Just stay away from the big macro breweries though....they really DO suck.

I am unsure i would make the investment.
funny how things revolve in time.
during the early 1900's the mass numbers of swedish immigrants into america caused snus to be in very high demand and its documented that in chicago during this period streets were nicknamed 'snus junction' 'snus boulevard'
Swedish snus was expensive to import so they started making their own. The first national brand was 'seal snus' which led to redseal.
Then production costs got higher so to meet demand it was produced using cheaper methods in america and brands such as skoal came out.
copenhagen snuff also became very popular around this time.
It funny that what we call dip today was still being referred to as snus right up until the end of the 1940's and into the 50's.
So the popularity of 'dip' and the flavours it holds are what the majority of american smokeless tobacco users want.
This is probably why american snus made today have gone for fruit and sweet flavours.
the problem is that todays american snus does not compare at all with the strength and quality of swedish snus, nor does it come close to the quality of dip.
So many smokeless tobacco users in america who have tried camel snus, klondike and now discreet really dislike snus and say it is crap. Some dippers are convinced it the pasteurisation of the tobacco that is the cause of it being bad.
discreet are going for the 7% of smokers that are switching to smokeless.
how would one convince a big enough market of the existing smokeless user base that your snus would be any different. It would require a huge investment in marketing.Snus and Dip Video Reviews
