    Introduction: Hello snusers!

Hello. I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you how much I enjoy your forum.

I started snus a few months ago. Essentially, I have used nicotine for years. I like it. I stopped smoking a long time ago, but continued nicotine through multiple sources. I was introduced to snus thru Camel marketing (I assure you this helps our overseas friends). After trying Camel and googling snus that day, I placed my first Swedish order the following day....good move.

Health: One of the reasons I moved to snus from US loose was health. I read those two large Swedish studies which showed nothing of alarm and no mouth cancer. I am hoping that the manufacturing process has not changed enough from the 1970's to change the outcomes of those studies. I have some concern over PH but not enough.

My taste: I seem to like real tobacco taste. I try to avoid STRONG NIC but I can't, so instead I limit strongs to once a day. I gravitate around Grov, Ettan, N&J. I try to expand into favors, but so far, I only like Catch Licorice and Eucalyptus when I want my breath fresh. I WANT to like snus that will keep the breath fresh. Recommendations? This helps me greatly with my girlfriend, but I've now chosen los over her twice, she is very attractive and I'm getting concerned with myself. When I get home in the evening, I want a los. So far, I only tried RL and Ettan with a Grov, GEN, Oden EK, and Gote Prima fint on the way.

Storage: Im looking for the "right answer" but it seems it depends on taste. So, I'm use a wine fridge at 50-55 degrees for everything. Next week, I place a small tin of water in there for humidity...see what happens. I have a rather large order of los and wet portions coming, so am considering a bagged freeze for any I wont use soon. Advice?

As an old cuban cigar smoker, I really wanted to try the Monte's and the Romeos. I can't get them shipped to US. But I see people in this forum (in the US) list them as their top 5 favs??? Am I missing a store that will ship? Advice?

Salt: I'm actually concerned about my SALT intake. I have avoided salt for years. Can anyone determine in lay terms how much salt is in a portion so I can calculate my daily intake? Any brands that advertise less salt?

    Great forum! Thanks

Welcome to SnusOn SnusFriend. I wouldn't worry about the salt, I read somewhere that there's less salt in snus in a can of Coke.

      welcome! i'm semi-new here too.

this article is a pretty general one, and an ok one http://tobaccocontrol.bmj.com/cgi/co...tract/12/4/349

basically, this is what i pulled from it (so you don't have to read it if you don't want to, lol):

"It was suggested that snus' effects on blood pressure may be related to its sodium content (1.3–3.5% sodium chloride and 1.5–3.5% sodium bicarbonate)."

so from this, i'm assuming it's pretty minimal?

Welcome to the forum mate. Glad to have you with us. As far as storage goes, I freeze those that I do not have open and in use. The rest stay in the fridge (when at all possible) for open tins that will be used in say a week or less consistency of temp more than refrigeration is the key.

Better minds than mine will have to answer about the amount of salt. Justin will probably be along and pull up something for you to read.

Anyway, welcome and keep us posted

Edit: While I was posting this, it seem that others were already answering the salt issue. ops:

Hello, I would love to try those cigar brand snus as well. I think others have said if you do some searching you can find some shady distributers that will try to ship them to you but I will just wait until the embargo is ended.

Wow...that's fast! Thanks for the kind words, advice and even the article weeg...that helps!

I'm hand baking a RL pris early today. When I first opened it, I thought....mud? I ran out of potions...Grov, Ettan, Lucky. I was backed into a corner. Now, I love los. Excited for the other los' to arrive.

I've used Northerner and Getsnus so far. Swiss post backed me into that corner way outside average time. So, I use getsnus when they carry what I want. Might try buysnus to compare shipping speed next.

              Welcome to Snuson SnusFriend

Yes, Buysnus will be a bit faster as they still use Swedish Post, MUCH better than Swiss Post. Another alternative to keep your eye on is clubsnus.com, a brand new etailer who is slowly adding more and more snus to what they offer, but will soon already carry stuff Getsnus refuses to bother with. And they ship priority mail, got my package across the country from them in 2 days.

Any snus I am not using gets frozen first, will keep that way at least several years with no degradation. And I am lazy, don't mess with bags, just throw my snus in the freezer. I have used snus a year past it's best by date and it was a s fresh as brand new.

As fair as Montecristo or Romeo y Julieta go, your sort of on your own. I've tried them both, they're pretty good. But I believe someone mentioned on here, the company that makes them keeps an eye watching for anyone who posts a link to sites that will ship it here, and shuts them down. So, I know where to get them, but can't really help, other than to say that google is your friend...

Well, in the 1970's the FDA started mandating Swedish Snus, so if anything it's gotten tighter and better.

I would suggest trying 02, it's strong, and has a good tobacco flavor. Also, Skruf Stark is good.
