How do people get MonteCristo here in the states? If caught through customs can't you have BATF knocking down your door because you are in possesion of Cuban tobacco? :?

I was wondering about that myself. I would be afraid that there might be a team of federal agents waiting for me to pick up my package at the post office and I might end up on the next episode of Cops all over a can of snus.

Cuban Assets Control Regulations, 31 C.F.R. Part 515, (Revised September 30, 2004) are administered and enforced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Criminal penalties for violation of the Regulations can go as high as $1 million for corporations, and $250,000 for individuals plus up to 10 years in prison. In addition, civil penalties of up to $65,000 per violation can be imposed by OFAC

It sucks cause I would really like to try some MonteCristo. I've heard it is kinda like Taboca but better? Damn the U.S. and their senseless Cuban embargo. :x

OUCH!!! I don't think Monte Cristo or anything that even has a trace of Cuban Tobacco in it will be on my list anytime soon. Hey maybe that snus should come with a free bar of soap on a rope.

                Montecristo

Taboca AS, who manufactures MC and RyJ, is also bound by its license to keep the product out of the US as Altadis USA owns the trademarks there.

Considering that almost the entire Canadian market for Cuban cigars is illegal export to the US, it's quite funny that Altadis made a noise once someone there ordered a can of MC off of Northerner. In those early days, Taboca was walking on eggshells to make sure they honored every word in the licensing agreement.

Now that Taboca brand snus is 75% of the sales mix, it's not so much of an issue, but the e-barriers remain in place.

Having previously run Taboca's Scandinavian businesses, I have always advised here that any discussions of alternative shipment methods for MC/RyJ be kept off this, and other, snus forums. The companies lurk.

Also, if you go to Sweden/Norway, you'll be paying the full price with duty in retail which must be up around US $10 per can now. I don't think they managed yet to get it into duty-free. DON'T buy it in Norway. It'll be more expensive. Best to buy it in Europe from someone who purchased it online via an e-retailer. If you're American, you still take the rap if you get caught. And, no, its not for sale in Cuba either.

Same with LS and Swedish Camel. Nothing like jumping through hoops!
