    Flavor intensity..Portions or loose?

I've read differing opinions on whether portions or loose snus has a stronger
    flavor per equivalent "serving".
I've only tried loose a couple of times and it seemed to me that the flavor
was not as intense as with non-white portion snus, even with a bigger pris by weight
    than a regular portion.
What's your opinion? I'm just talking about flavor intensity, nothing else.
I love me a strong drip.

Depends on what brand you get. In general, lös is more muted, but the flavor lasts longer. A couple of exceptions that come to mind are LD, and Gotland brands. They seem stronger in lös form.

I'll defer to people with actual long-term experience on this. I will say the Kardus I have in right now is mighty potent for such a small amount, but of course that's not at all your typical lös.

          Portions, every time.

Buts as others have said, it can last a long time. For me at least, and the portions that I use, I don't really find that.

But I am not a los user, have tried to like it 3 times, still not there yet/ So take what I say with a grain of salt.

Sage, I think that is my conclusion too. Portions just seem to have more flavor per unit serving. I like a strong drip, not a surprise considering my history. I'm gonna try los some more, I'm just wary that I might wind up
jamming los into my lower lip like dip, and I don't wanna go there again.
I think I'm just a portion snus type guy.
            Lots of flavor, more convenient.

Yeah, for a bunch of reasons, I am just a portions guy. I enjoy my snus far more using portions than los. In the end, that is all that matters.

portions have to overcome the material the tobacco is encased in to reach your lip. That theory being stated, leads me to summize that portions are saltier and more flavorful to make up for less contact in the mouth and the need to overcome the material the tobacco is wrapped in to release the snus goodness in the lip.

Loose is what it is. The flavor is more subtle. However you are free to customize your experience by manipulating the quantity you use and the manner in which you use it. If you bake a fat prilla and beat it up while you use it you're gonna catch some snus shine.

all in all for how most of us generally use a snus a loose tends to sit there and not offer up much flavor. It is a balance with a fragile wad of soft tobacco that can not be prodded too much without causing a mess.

using portions that have contained the snus gives the normal user the opportunity to man handle their portion and manipulate it in ways not recommended when using loose. Easier to get more out of what you have.

two different animals that need treated differently.

portions taste stronger. loose is a mellower and rewarding experience.

baker hit the nail on the head. portions are more flavorful, to overcompensate the paper surrounding it.

One thing i have also found is that when i am using los, the tighter the prilla is, the less flavor.. With that in mind, u certainly do run a higher risk of mudslides and a mess with a looser prilla but over time if you stick with los enough you will get the hang of it and find out whatever works best for you.

I do agree with what others have said though, and think overall for the most flavor and drip id say a regular (not white) portion is your best bet for a good drip and lotsa flavor. And as lxskllr said before, each variety and manufacturer is gonna be a bit different so enjoy the journey of finding that perfect one! (or perfect ten if your tastes end up like mine! )

I have many times agreed with the advise on this forum that told me to enjoy the snus for its many versatile solutions to almost every nic craving situation! Mix and match em, los at home portion at work, whatever you want... thats the beauty of snus!! Most important of all though?? JUST FIND WHAT U LIKE AND ENJOY IT!!

Customizability is, for me, one of the best aspects of los.

I try to keep my prillas fairly loose (or los) for precisely that reason. But I'm the kinda guy that doesn't mind the occasional mudslide and has been known to swallow entire prillas before with no adverse effects.

This is what I do. Portions at work for convenience and discretion. Los damn near anywhere else.

Chewing is definitely not a new way of enjoying tobacco - it is a rather old tradition - but the new, modern Nordic Chew is more like snus than traditional chewing tobacco. It looks the same way as Swedish snus and comes in loose form or in portions. ...
