    GetSnus

GetSnus maybe cheaper, but the quality and overly long shipping times aren't worth it. I've gotten a couple of orders from them and was just about ready to give up on snus thinking this stuff sucks. So I tried some from Northerner and I don't know how GetSnus stores their stuff but the Northerner was a lot better. And Northerner has UPS 3 day shipping.

Maybe it's our difference in location, Bardic, but the reason I started ordering from Getsnus is because from order-to-mailbox is an average of 3 days for me. I've ordered from them one day in the early morning, and had it in my mailbox by the end of the next day.

And an update on my email to them: They said I am welcome to contact V2 if I like, but said they passed on my comments to them. They told me to keep them informed when I place my next order and they are going to send me a whole extra log of snus to me at no cost! Probably another reason I've stuck with them. Although every site I've ordered from has had great customer service, getsnus has gone above and beyond to please me when orders have been unsatisfactory.

Maybe it is storage, maybe it happens at the manufacturer, maybe the seller, I don't know. I'm kinda thinking, maybe wrongly, that freezing and unfreezing has an effect. I think the next time I order, when I make a BIG dent in my current stock, I'm just keeping a small stock and keeping them in the fridge and not the freezer. I still wish the snus companies would come up with a way to bypass the need for cold storage. I used to think a sealed foil bag in the can, but I just got an idea, you know how stuff will have a stuck on, usually it seems a clear plastic that sticks around the edges, on food items, to keep fresh. Maybe each can could just have this sealed over the snus before the lid is popped on? Probably won't happen, but storage is an issue I think, in preserving the quality longest, and also for possible over the counter sales in the US.

You could be onto something there -

If snus is supposed the be kept at a consistent temperature / humidity, then going from a fridge at the factory, then wherever during shipping to the supplier then a fridge at the warehouse (if they are kept that way), then wherever, then onto us, and if we freeze then warm then fridge, could cause drastic changes to moisture content.

Think about freezing say ground beef, and if it was cold, warm, frozen, cold, warm...

          Just a theory...

You mean how Lucky Strikes were? When you took the lid off, they had the can sealed with a piece of plastic you had to remove on the top (like when you buy a new bottle of ketchup for instance). Think that's what you mean.

I actualy have the same problem with a recent order of thunder from getsnus. I've ordered plenty of thunder frosted from them b4 and no trouble but this time the cans say thunder extreme in them and were dry. Also something is different about the flavor . It's still delicious minty crack! But it has an artificial sweetner taste like general mini mint. Anyone else notice this or do I need to get my taste buds tuned?

The last four cans of Thunder I got from Northerner were also very, very dry with expiration date of 1/26/10. I was expecting them to be dripping, but not even close. Likewise with the roll of Skruf Stark Portions I recently got from Getsnus. Very dry and hard. In my limited snussing experience, only Swedish Match products have been totally consistent.

                    UPDATE:

So I made an order from getsnus and asked the free roll they offered me be Thunder Wintergreen, to give them another shot.......and it's dry again. It's the same 'best by' date so I'm assuming it's the same batch.

Guess I'll just slowly use this up and not order Thunder again for at least a few months so this dry crap can get cycled out.

I just opened my Offroad Original Strong portion with a 2010 date, and it's a bit dry too. Not bone dry, but not well moist at all.

I miss the wet odens ES that I fell in love with. She kinda dried up on me. My latest 5 pack of frosted from getsnus is nice and juicy, sounds like I lucked out.

I doubt the snus industry will change the way it does things, but this variance in moisture, I wonder if snus portions, and loose too, would benifit in terms of staying well moist, and being preserved better, and maybe not even need refrigeration, if they were dumped in ziplock sealed bags, like American Chew is(yeah, I know they all don't have the ziplock), but like a bigger Discreet bag, that can hold 24 portions, sealed, with a pull off strip, and a ziplock, I don't mean the extra thingy deluxe ziplock, but the kind like Discreet bags. Seems it would make delivery weight lighter too. I think it'd be a good idea.

                            Remember Rocker Snus?

They had it down pat... Then RJ Reynolds bought them and 86'd the brand. Sad, Rocker Reds were one of the best snus' ever IMO. Rocker Black was good too.

                            sigh.

That was just a hair before my time. I would have loved to have tried some of their snus.

Thinking about Rocker reminds me to have a little more empathy for folks who lose their favorite snus' even if I think it sucks. ops:
