Air Travel With a Bunch of Snus

With all the bizarre restrictions in place concerning airline travel in the U.S. I was wondering if you raise any red flags if going trough airport security with a dozen or so cans of snus in your carry on luggage. I hate to be jerked out of line, searched and questioned because I look more like Kieth Richards than your typical businessman. On the other hand, I won't be going through customs.

I can't see you having any problems, especially if you're flying domestically. I'm big on efficiency too so if you're checking a bag then just bring one or two cans with different portions in the little used snus trays in the caps.

Some snus actually mingle well together in the can such as Claq Qui and Grov or Ettan. Onyx and General, etc.

This way you can take at least six different snus with only two cans as the flight can't be that long. Sometimes I ship a package to where I'm going before I fly too because it's better than the hassle of checking a bag if I don't have much to take along.

Just recently flew from Cleveland to Colorado and the Cleveland to Texas. No problems either time. I had between 6 and 10 tins in my carry on. Also has insulin and syringes. My bags passed right through the security screening.

Never had a problem over the several int'l and domestic trips I've taken in the last year and a half. 11 or 12 aiports later and no one has ever asked about it, even after opening my carry-on for further inspection. Flying is such a good time to appreciate everything about snus. As are meetings and long visits with Grandma.

This has been covered many, many times over the years. Domestically, not a problem regardless of how many cans you have. Internationally, just make sure you read about the limits on importation of personal amounts of tobacco. May be limited to something like 200 grams or such. But the mechanics of passing through security??? Has never been an issue, I have flown with snus many, many, many times.

Thanks for the helpful tips, and my apologies for misspelling "Keith Richards." Even though I've tapered down on my smoking during the last 5 years, this will be the first plane trip of my adult life, since smoking was prohibited while flying, during which I wasn't obsessing about making it to the smoking lounge between flights, or keeping an American Dip in my mouth without spitting until I could make it to the restroom on the plane.

That's a long time too, as I can remember flying back in the day when there was such a thing as a "smoking flight." I can't believe it now that I think about it, blowing smoke right into the back of someone's head, flying on Eastern, Braniff, TWA, Pan Am or some other defunct Airline. After the hot meal and the two free drinks you used to get. The stories I could tell about some Braniff stewardesses I used to know, back when that job was about as prestigious as being a model is today. Damn, I'm getting old!

                  Flying with Snus

I actually recently flew back east with a full suitcase of snus. Something like 200 cans or so. I called the TSA and they said there is no restrictions for traveling with Snus. They did say that I had to check my bag though. Nothing was damaged and all was there when I arrived. So from my knowledge there are no restrictions at all.
