EU Snus law who is continuing to fight

We know before the last review of the EU tobacco directive there was a huge campaign from Swedish Match, Lobby Groups and people. Despite all of that nothing changed.

Now the Snus companies have adapted their products with their Chew Bags and All White Tobacco Free Snus to suit EU law.

There are now dozens of websites targeting the UK and other EU countries pushing Nicotine Pouches.

I fear that if companies such as Swedish Match change their strategy for the EU and only pursue Nicotine Pouches does that mean they have given in to the fight. Will lobby groups still petition the EU to lift the sales ban of regular Snus ?

There are news about a possible lifting of the snus ban all the time, and I'm absolutely sure that the snus manufacturers are constantly at it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I guess, similar to yourself, I'm watching this since the mid 2000s, and many people who found snus earlier, are actually watching the situation since the early 90's.

Two weeks ago, these "chew bags" (by Skruf) showed up in my local supermarket, and I just bought a can of "Skruf xtra" out of curiosity. I must say, it is usable, nicotine-wise, and it even resembles the taste of real Skruf Stark (as far as I remember it), but on the whole, it's not the same at all. I'll keep importing real snus from a trusted vendor in Sweden, who has a limited supply, but never failed me, and their brands are really great, too.

As far as the EU goes, in theory, the EU is about peace and prosperity for its member states, but in reality it's just rampant corruption. I'd like to be out as soon as possible.

I am lucky in that my country the UK we the people voted to leave the EU. my fear is they keep the Snus ban when we leave EU law, but lets hope not.

Interesting stuff chainsnuser the Skruf Chew Bags showing up in your local supermarket.I believe Ministry of Snus make them for them in Denmark. Of the Chew Bags I've tried the Skruf ones were my favourite.

I find Chew Bags are kind of like snus & make a good backup if you can't get your hands on snus at the time.

When exactly was the snus ban enacted in Europe?

The ban was enacted in 1992 as a response to a product called Skoal Bandits.

When Sweden joined the EU a condition they had was that they had an exemption from the ban as snus was a traditional product for them. The exemption however came with a condition that Sweden was not allowed to sell snus to other EU countries.

& that's basically how things still are.
