    Daily usage

Hey guys I've got a question I've wondered about since I first started using snus 10 years ago. As a smoker, I could measure my intake based on the packs per day method all smokers are familiar with. 1/2 a pack a day, 1 pack a day, etc. With snus and dip I imagine, I assume it's similarly measured in cans per day. The difference for me is I have no idea what's normal. Recently I was approaching a can a day and decided that was too much (although I really have no idea what the average is). I've been watching my intake more mostly due to cost and have settled around 1/2 a can a day. But my question is, is that normal? Just because a pack of cigs a day is normal doesn't mean a can of snus a day is equally normal. Where are you guys at? What were your highs if you've pulled back?

Thats a good question. I'm pretty sure in sweden they use a can a day. But in the usa and most other countries in the west I'm pretty sure most people would use 1/2 can. I base my opinion on what I've read and from personal info. I think one reason is because there is no "stigma" against using oral tobacco in sweden and that its cheap there. In the usa the cost to get snus here makes one conserve ones supply somewhat and there definately is a stigma against oral or any type of tobacco. If you got free or real cheap snus I'm positive one would consume more snus. Make sense?
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

From all I know, a can per day is considered "normal" in Sweden.

Imagine someone who is very sensitive to nicotine and spits out every portion (or prilla) after just 15 minutes, long before the maximum nicotine effect is reached, but still finds it enjoyable to have the next portion half an hour later. This roughly sums up to one can per day or moderate snusing, similar to moderate smoking.

I'm a former chain smoker (up to 3 packs a day) and I use a little less than half a can of snus per day, but I also keep the portions for about two hours, because I like the nicotine effect, which from the beginning I always found more pleasurable than what I got from chain smoking - really, back in 2006 I switched within 3 days from full smoking to full snusing.

I'm also still keeping track of my consumption. I'm not rich and have to count the money. But snus has been a godsend in that regard. My spending is only a fifth than what I used to spend on cigarettes.

It's all a very personal thing, I guess, but everything up to one can of snus per day, or even slightly more, is definitely normal.

      Cheers!

Thanks for sharing guys. Clarifies some for me and makes me fell I'm doing alright :-). If it weren't for finances I think my sweet spot was right around a can a day. But, unlike with smoking, I'm easily able to make a pouch last a while and cut my usage in half without really feeling any effects.
