Get In Los-ers, We’re Going Snusing

So I’m putting together a smaller order of mostly los snus. I want to try a bunch (and remember ones I’ve had) before I pull the trigger on a stock up order.

Stars I have had, like at leas if not longer than10 years ago. I had Granit more recently, I bought a roll and was not a fan of the texture, but it still has been a couple years. I don't remember Grov, (I wanna say I hated it but tastes change) andhave fond memories of the rest.

I am a little nervous about the whisky snus, but I’ll give them a chance (y’all might see them on the exchange “opened but untouched” if they smell too much like alcohol for me). I am concerned that Mustang will be too smoky as smoke bothers my throat ::coughgeneralcough::
and that’s why there is no General.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Also throwing in a Skruf Nordic Licorice Slim, and Helwit Blueberry, Coffee, and Cola on PP’s recommendation…just to round out the numbers and make it more cost effective.

I really hope I like the Smålands Brukssnus, the price is nice.

Finally, no Odens because they don’t have No3 los in stock and I can’t do the Extreme. I know it’s delicious, but it is too strong for me nowadays.

I'm not a los user so I can't comment on your selection, sorry. I was pleasantly surprised with the Helwit snus, but thats me. I see you like the good old los snus varieties....I'm not sure you would like any of the white pouches. They seem to be quite sweet and there is no tobacco so forget about tasting any tobacco. Just wanted to make sure you know not to expect any tobacco flavor from the whites. ATM for me, I love the Helwit mocha. The cola is pretty good and the blueberry....well its doesn't taste like blueberry. They are all sweet tho.

Premium Parrots I like some flavors to mix it up. I think the lower nicotine all white pouches are useful, I keep a tin of local Zyn mint or Velo spearmint in my bag and car for a change up or if I forget my snus running out the door, but I’m not a fan of the American super dry nic salt portions. I do like that I can leave them in a hot car in FL with no problems.

As for los, Skruf Stark No33 is really good, but I only grabbed one tin on my last order and I’m running out. I want to make sure that is what I want to stock the freezer with so I’m freshly trying a bunch of stuff I think will fit my profile. I wouldn’t stock RL, Kronan, one of the whisky flavors, or GR because I get flavor burnout, I think I learned my lesson on my last order of all Lundgrens…maybe, but having a staple Los is pretty important to me sticking with snus. That’s why I fell off for a bunch of years when Skruf Stark got weird and all of my other favorites were discoed.

I can’t not live by portions alone…and for a long time I used snuff, nothing, or even picked up cigarettes a few times for a stretch over the last ten years or so. I can’t keep going back to cigarettes when I want more nicotine (cause it’s never just one), cigars aren’t my thing, dip ruins my lip and gums, chew has gotten ridiculously expensive, and snuff doesn’t always cut it…especially since as I get older, the fine dry ones that I like with higher nicotine are giving me more sinus issues, so it’s mostly Poschl products when I do partake as a treat.

Gosh I love snuff but I just can't use it anymore, again heart issues and snuff really bumps up the blood pressure. However, I do have a really nice collection of snuff.....to move along someday. I like the Dalakia White, Butternut and even some Dr. Rumneys. I was lucky enough to get a few grams of the rare Spanish Jewel that was privately made by some guy in spain. Its really good and everybody at snuffhouse wanted it but it was small batch and kind of expensive. They lost touch of the guy, I think he died. Anyway, I have a nice selection of about 20 or so different snuffs that need to go if anyone is interested let me know.

I agree with snuff, so good. What I’ve got should last the rest of my life if I stick with snus this time. Haven’t touched the stuff since my order came in, and I don’t know if I’ll ever use HDT again. Too many sinus issues with that one.

Premium Parrots I think D White would kill me if I tried it today. My tolerance has dropped pretty significantly and I’m not looking to tamp it back up at all.

If I were to use loose I would choose Skruf. I love the scents from nasal snuff but I find it messy and I don’t always get enough nicotine or I get it differently I don’t know. The Poschl menthols can be nice to do just before I go in the shower. I might try tobacco snus minis at some point- I think they are about 4mg nicotine per portion. Same price as regulars though AFAIK!

I’m looking at Kapten minis. Cheapish and 6mg a portion.

I really dig Skruf, getting at least a roll, but I want to try them all lol. Brukssnus is made by Skruf, might be up my alley. Same with Knox. Who knows, I might like Grov.

Snuff is awesome, and I do love me some Gletcherprise. I also love High dry toast, but my sinuses get irritated by the fine and dry snuffs now a days…but a bracing menthol before a shower is choice.

I had a Kapten that was cranberry vodka or something like that five years ago and it wasn’t bad. I’m going to try out the minis. I need some sort of portion for discrete situations.

I’d love to use Skruf portions, but the medium strength slims clock in at 10mg/g. 4 is too low for me for snus…but the nicotine portions I don’t really want to go so high because of the faster uptake I have experienced so far. I’ll see how these Helwitt pouches hit, should be in my sweet spot I hope. 10 is too high for regular use, and I like a slim or a mini-and the price of the Swedish Match minis is a bit much. Balances out the value of the los though. Even the one range is too strong for me.

I’m not the biggest fan of off-road portions as I remember…I want to say the classic was sweet in a strange way, but I haven’t had an off-road product since they were still owned by v2. I’ll probably throw a tin in when I do a portion sampler order to see what I’m into, gotta find a fun name for that thread when I get to it, but choosing a staple los is the priority for me right now.

Pulled the trigger on this order today. Super excited about getting los-t when it comes in.

Follow up, I’m not sure of the TSNA’s on HDT. I know they are high in American snuffs, and I’ve been sitting on a can of Bruton for over a year waiting to open it. Looks like I may never open it because fine and dry. Might pop it up on the exchange…I also have probably 400g of HDT laid up and I may never use it again…

Have I learned my lesson about trading away snuff to buy it again a year later?

Skruf los is no longer available for the American market (Snuscentral) soooooo I guess I’ll see what I like from this los order.

Mustang (42g yeah, it’s goooood)
Odens (40g and so smoky…why?)
Brukssnus (35g and mid…not as budget as it looks)
Kronan (42g and less dill pickle than I remember, and the grind is so nice)

Formal reviews to follow, and I kept a Helwitt Mocha out to try for when I finish my current open tins of portions.

Also, that may be the last tin of Skruf I ever try, or at least until we find out why it can’t be shipped here/it gets remedied…and although there may be vendors that have it in their catalogue, I’m not taking any chances.

Prima los- Current fav. When you keep searching for "flavor", and find this is a snus that doesnt appear to need any to be great.
Ettan los-- What can ya say, classic. Them Sweden boys did it right from the get go.
Roda los- Love the taste. Whatever "berry" it is.
General los Love the taste, but not so much the grind. Gravitating towards the finer grind of the aforementioned.
Mustang los Nice surprise, taste a bit like Roda, a bit like Ettan but maybe a child of the two with a stonger combined flavor.

Looking to try Goteborgs Rape Los, cant remember if I had that years back or just the portions. Remembering a pine flavor either way.

I like General flavor, but it’s that darn smoke flavoring that gets me. Too much in the blend irritates my throat and leads to bad heartburn (so far: General los, Brukssnus los, Odens los). I’m a little nervous about the Grov and the Mackmyra being too smoky, so I’ll save them for a bit. I was scrolling reviews and I said I hated the smoke in Grov los last time I had it in 2011, but I do think it fair to revisit all of them…and maybe order a tin of General and GES next order to really do it right.

One of these days I’m going to cook up some snus and try some weird stuff, like using low acid cold brewed coffee as part of the water in the recipe (or all of the water, I haven’t tried making any snus yet so I don’t know.)

haha. let some snus sit open for a few days to dry out and pour your concoction on it to see. i rehydrate my los snus sometimes with water, but may have to try orange or cranberry juice next time. haha.

but yeah, that "smoke" stuff i experienced with ettan and grov portions. more weird, i loved the taste off the bat, but both seemed to turn on me. i get that way with avocado too, where in small samples i love it, but man its like the worst stuff ever if i do just a tad too much. so maybe a here and there rotation for you on the "smoke" snus.
