    proud of myself :)

Just got my first can of los snus, and to my suprise I hand baked a good solid pris in under a minute. This roda lacket is so moist and fine it reminds me of workin with clay back in my artist years. I was nervous about hand baking, thought it would be difficult or whatever, but I'm glad to say I don't think I'll ever need to shell out $50 for an ice tool.

Good for you. The ice tool is very popular on this forum so I am afraid of the response I'll get, but I too would not buy a 50 dollar pincher if I got into using lös. It seems to be something that people like very much once they have it, but something most swedes and older snussers never needed or even know about.

I can handbake, no problem, but I prefer the consistency of the IceTool. It isn't needed, but I prefer using it.

The consistency is probably the only plus I can see to havin an ice tool. But I still think I'll stick to handbaking

When I first started with lös, that was my intention also. As it happened, my favorite lös was Landströms, and that was all but impossible to handbake. I got the IceTool exclusively for that, but I started using it for everything. I use less snus when I IceTool prises, so it's already payed for itself many times over. I'd get another one if I lost mine somehow :^)

Its the initial investment in an ice tool that I can't handle. I'm sure they indeed pay for themselves over time. And for as often as I lose things I probably wouldn't trust myself with something that small and expensive.. :/

I handbake everything but I'm sure at some point I will submit to the power of the icetool.

OK first, I do not own an ice tool and cannot remember the last time I used my pris master. I hand bake a few brands. The rest I just pinch and toss.

That said, I would not be so quick to dismiss the ice tool. Baking Roda is one thing. Baking Kronan is quite another. And even with Roda the challenge is on the back end of the bake. What I mean is that while Roda may seem to be an easy initial bake if not done right it and prima are a lot more likely end in a mud slide once they are in for any period of time.

A lot of times new users go through inordinate and unnecessary frustration that might have been avoided if they had bought a tool (Ice or Pris).

I’m not saying that one should not become good at baking. I’m just saying, a tool provides one more option in your repertoire.

My hands... I mean.. I don't think I would consciously lick my hand. Yet, that's pretty much what you're doing every time you hand bake.

I just don't have the gumption to wash my hands twice, before and after baking, every time I want a snus.

That's the main reason I love my Icetools.

I do hand bake. I like a loose pinch now and then too.

Day to day, I know where my hands have been.... just saying.

Even though I'm new to it I'm rather confident in my hand-baking abilities. I used to make pretty intricate stuff out of clay and molding things in my hands feels almost natural. I'm goin on an hour with a pris of roda and it hasn't slid or gunked up on me yet. I get a little bit of tobacco in my saliva occasionaly but that's cool. I know some snus is harder to form and keep together, but I'll tackle that challenge when I get to it. And I'm not terribly worried about hand baking and the cleanliness of my hands... Just me tho. I only do los at home so my hands are usually clean-ish. Its good to keep in mind tho.

Premium Parrots you forgot to put "know" in your sentence. It should have been "Do you *know* who owns this website?"

                          Just letting you know.

I can agree with this as to my experience so far albeit limited with los. Even though I'm an ex-dipper, I found handbaking to be a major pain in the ass and even though I would mold what -seemed- to be a nicely formed pris, a damn premature mudslide would ensue within the 1st hour and usually at about the time I was just starting to appreciate the flavor.

Since I've switched to my "Homemade" ice-like-tool I've had much better success at forming a more intact pris which stays intact much longer. And if I were to use more los down the road, I would probably have to invest in the actual "icetool" since the thing with the plastic syringe is I can see it getting smashed/broken eventually not too mention would sorta make me feel like standing in the cheese line if I depended on it more regularly.
