So I've been using Triumph snus for a while after quitting dipping (3 months ago). It's not very good but has done a great job keeping me away from my old nasty habit. Today however, I strolled into my local cigar shop. Low and behold there is a General Snus mini-fridge sitting on the counter! Needless to say I was ecstatic. I picked up 6 cans. 2 cans of loose, 2 white portions, 1 can of wintergreen white portions, and a can of mini-mint portions. My first attempt at hand baking a pris actually turned out pretty well, kept it in for about 45 minutes with no mud slides, slipping around, etc. Tasted great as well. I also get a much better nic kick from the General than the crap Triumph I've been using. I just told my friend (a die-hard grizzly WG dipper) about my find and he's heading over there as we speak. I really hope he'll change his ways like I have.
FINALLY got ahold of some real snus

Right on!
I have not heard of Triumph, but it is a thrill to see those counter-top snus fridges around... we have one that my friend found in a mall smoke shop in Santa Rosa. It really saves if I or the post office lag on my bulk orders.
Oh and General is a great welcome to the world of 'real' snus.

I guess the point is I won't lose as hard as I could if I didn't stock snus. I'd lose eventually, but at least the inevitable could be prolonged :^)
Edit:
Which is to say by losing, I'm not really losing, and by winning, I'm not crashing as hard :^)

WindyCityFlyer, I too am in Chicago and I get my snus (general brands) downtown at Hubbard Tobacco (Hubbard and State, red line to grand) for less that $5 a tin, although the internet is way cheaper and has a better selection. MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT EXPIRATION DATES BEFORE YOU BUY A TIN, i've been sold expired snus (which isn't bad, it's just not fresh) and it sucks realizing that it's expired after you have pinched a few prillas out of it.

This seems a but ridiculous considering that American chewing tobacco can be found for under $3.00 a can and in many varieties. I have asked 4 different stores that I shop at to carry Swedish snus but they all come back with "I checked and my distributor didn't even know what that is". Stock up while you can.
I guess that I never even think about the possibility of snus going away. Not too up on the politics of tobacco these days. If that happened I think I would make my own. I had at one point in time found a basic snus recipe online. It is something I have wanted to do anyway, because I'm like that. when I get into something I tend to geek out on it and eventually start making it myself.
I have had great luck making snuff, hot sauce, bitters, & other random crap... usually with good success. If I failed, it would be nasal snuff from then on out. But, I digress... stocking up = yes.

Chicago Represent! Can't wait to go back after college though, 'cause at heart I'm still a Southside boy  I'll have to check out Hubbard Tobacoo when I'm back in town which should be in a few months. Where abouts in Chi-town are you? I'm from over by 'dere on da southside in Orland Park
And FWIW the cigar shop where I bought all my General from charged me about 3.30-3.60 a can. Pretty good deal if ya ask me. The guy was shocked when I told him he's the only guy in the area selling it. Probably shouldn't have done that. Now he's gonna jack up the price. haha
AND just thought you guys should know, a buddy came over to hangout for a little today and I let him take half a can of General loose home after I showed him how you bake a pris. He just told me he threw out all his grizzly cans and will never dip again. He thinks the almost non existent health risks of snus are too good to be true haha. He also said he got a buzz from it, and was very surprised because he said he hasn't gotten a buzz from any tobacco product in almost 2 years.

I can't make much claim on Chicago, other than I have a nephew who lives there, and I've played music with some South Side guys from 'way back--real nice guys. Dad went to Chicago once and liked it ever since.
I bought my very fürst Swedish Snus, General of course, from Iwan Ries over the Internet, but as I understand it they are a mega-dandy tobacco store in Chicago. I have since bought a little pipe stuff from them.
