    Snus in Canada

    Heres a tread for you:

    http://www.snuson.com/viewtopic.php?...r=asc&start=20

look at the fith one down.

I also wrote Cigar Emporium to show interest. I buy 6 cans at a time so the price is low and the package is small, from buysnus.com and the name on the return address does not raise suspicion. I got two packages in no problem and a third left yesterday.

Ummerr, it is likely be that snus is coming to a store near you. Here in Ottawa 3 locations are getting ready to sell snus in January, although I am not sure if it is Canadian DuMaurier snus or the Swedish brands.

The local smoke shop here in Tyler Tx received a fridge over a month ago....

I keep calling them every few days asking if they have gotten the snus in......nada. Not sure its gonna happen. Otherwise, the sister store 40 miles away is carrying General. Ive not made the trip over there to see about price and dates.

          SUCCESS!

so i went to the store today, walked in and asked if they had any snus. the guy said, yeah, we do. we walked over to a snus fridge (tiny thing) and they had general loose, regular portions, white portions and wintergreen. i asked him a few questions, and he said that they distribute most of the snus in the area, for all 27 or so customers. i inquired about the price and was astounded. 3.39$ per tin! i bought 6 white portions, 2 regular and 2 loose. this is my first time with loose.

the freshness dates were fine, except the best before date on the loose was expired a month ago...it's still usable though, right?

anyways a great experience all around.

          3.39$ a tin!

$3.39 is a great price!!! Like I mentioned in this this thread awhile back, I bought some General Portion in Orange County California that cost me $5.99 a can. That's just another reason to not go to California unless you have to. Prices for everything are out of control!

              $3.39 is a steal!!
As for the best-by-date, try it first with an open mind. If it's no good, then you have your answer. Hell, for that price I'll take it at even 3 months over date.

I got a reply quicker than I thought:

                    "Dear Sir,

We offer six different varieties of General Swedish Snus ranging from $3.19 - $3.49 per can.

                    Thank you,

Here in NW houston we have a store that sells General. The prices are a little high ($4.50 a can), and they are not always fresh like you would get from a buysnus or Northerner order. Overall I won't go there unless I have to. If my snus order doesn't come in soon I'll have to run up and buy a few cans.

I've already decided to get about 10 rolls from swedishsnus.com once I figure out what my favorites are. It's looking like it's going to be N&J, Onyx and something else.

For any Michigan people, there is a tobacconist in Ann Arbor that has one of those General Snus fridges. It's apparently the only place in Michigan that sells it. I was in A2 the other day and bought a couple tins of general reg. portion and 1 one of the white portion. It was cool to buy it in a real store as opposed to waiting a week or two for it to arrive in the mail. However, I mostly just use Nick & Johnny, so the General came off a little to mild for my taste. I will probably still pick up a tin once in awhile from there for when I run out of N&J between shipments. The store is in Nickels Arcade, and it's a really great smoke shop to boot.

I've heard about Swedish Match bringing some of their products to American smokeshops and I think that is great news. I'm not one who believes the American government should be able to tell smokers where they can and can't smoke and I don't believe snus should be used as a tool to sway smokers to switch, although I do think it would be a smarter choice for a smoker and I certainly encourage it. I honestly can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke and can't stand the smell of people that smoke, but I don't tell them what I think. I keep my mouth shut and stay away from them If they're smoking. I'm more in the crowd of people that just want authentic Swedish snus products available on U.S. soil. I'd love to be able to go to my local Discount Tobacco shop in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and actually hand select the brand and amount of snus that I want and I hope that day comes very soon. I hope snus sales very well in the U.S. markets where it is available because I believe that will lead to the expansion of the snus market and eventually, maybe, it will be just as accessible as nasty, cancer in a can American snuff. If the American government and all the stop smoking and whatnot groups don't stiff Swedish Match and snus in general, I believe snus will be available all around the States in the very near future and not just online. That would be a great day, for me anyways.

When I bought the General at the store in Ann Arbor, I asked how well the snus sells. He said that it sold very well.
