    Getting hard

Is it normal for your gums to become harder or bumps forming as a result of having snusing in the same place for so long? I'm trying to picture this like a callus but only on my gums... anyone else experience this or am I crazy.

I'm new at this only about 2 weeks in to snusing fyi.

How are you determining "hardness", your tongue? If so, I'd say it isn't really hard, but salt "burned". If it's your finger, then I don't know. I imagine the gums get a bit less supple, but I don't think it would be noticeable other than with the tongue.

The inside of my mouth/ upper lip brushes against the gums and it feels like they are protruding more than normal as if theres a bump. I know its related to the snus because the bumps are on each side exactly where I use snus.

So I'm not using my tongue or finger i'm using the inside of my mouth/upper lip...... wow that sounds dirty.... anyway its probally only temporary cause i'm new and not used to something in my mouth for half the day right?

Welcome to snus Damicom3. I have read of others experiencing a "bump" on their gums, but I have no personal experience with that at all. Search the "snus and health" section for more info. I guess for now I suggest putting it on the other side and seeing if your problem clears up. Cheers

My gums will get ridges if I overdo the snus. It's mostly too much salt I think. It goes away after a day or so.

Hm I was looking at another thread and it seems that almost every snuser gets some irritation at some point in thier snusing career. As long as it doesn't start to hurt though I have no problem with it tbh. I will try some portion placement variation and see what that does.

                What are you snusing Damicom3

It is quite common early on to experience pressure and abrasion irritation due mainly to the salt in snus pressing and rubbing against your gums. However, an extra stark may give you a little nicotine burn as well.

This will subside over time. However, it may appear again from time to time if you are stressed and using more snus than normal or if you are using snus with a really dry mouth (e.g. due to certain cold medications, decongestants, etc...)

My recommendation is to rotate the snus from one side of your mouth to the other. Also keep in mind that certain portion materials are more abrasive than others (especially those used by budget brands). Finally the sweeteners in candy snuses can be especially irritating.

Thus give it time, rotate (that’s the main one), avoid candy snus, and try various brands.

                Hope this helps

I am currently rotating between general original portions and some discret strawberry flavored snus. Would that discreet strawberry be considered a candy snus?

Probably just the salt and having something new pressing against your gums. But on a hunch, lay off the Discreet for a few days and rotate the general from side to side and see if this helps.

Also brush with Baking Soda tooth paste (non gel)- an old dippers trick.

                        See if this helps.

Gum recession is what lingers most troubling in my mind, but I haven't noticed anything(new) to be concerned of. But since I have snussed, and now started to dip, I haven't had any issues, of sores, or pickle lip, hardness, or whatever.
