My First Los

Well, right now I have my second attempt at a pris in right now. The first one was a disaster LOL. I am waiting for my prismaster to come from Northerner, so I am trying to hand bake for the first time.

This pris is holding together a little better, but I have got to say.....so far, I am not liking los :cry: . It doesn't feel right in my mouth, it is giving me mud-mouth, and I am not getting flavor like I do with my portions. I am going to give it to the end of this can, but so far....I think I will stay with my portions.

Sounds like you're doing fine. Just continue to be patient and I think you'll be enjoying it more by the end of the can.

My usual handbaking advice to anyone new at it: try using gentle pressure and modest amounts at first.

I love Röda Lacket, whites and lös both, but they're kind of different experiences from each other for me.

Roda is one of my favorite as a los, don't like the portions.

One thing to remember when comparing los and portions is this;
It takes a little longer for the flavor to come out when using los.
Using los is about trial and error, how big of a pris you make, where you position it in your mouth, etc... just takes time and commitment. If you want a los you can really taste try Thunder Frosted and Oden's ES Kanel, great flavor and it will really kick your head in too as an added bonus . I think a lot of people would like los more if they spent more time with it.

They're completely different snuses, and if somebody put them each in a blank tin, a newbie would have no idea they were the same brand.

That's what I notice MQ....the los doesn't have the salt, and the flavor comes on slower for me with los than portions. Also, I can move and play with portions a little. With the pris, I can't do that.

Realizing that you and sage were meant for each other and therefore acknowledging the futility of my convert the world to los endeavor, I will only point out that I would have recommended that you start with either Phantom Blue or Skruf.

Roda is far too prone to slides and is far too hard to bake for flavor. It is one of my favorites but just not one I would want people to form their first experience of los with. Anyway

Thanks Snusdog. I am not totally against los yet. I decided when I ordered it to give it a fair chance. I noticed the flavor of my last pris....but it came after I had it in for quite a while. This last pris stayed pretty much together, just flattened out quite a bit - which I am assuming is normal. Came out in one piece as well. I made the second pris a lot smaller than the first, thanks to Sages' advice.

What flavor I had in the Roda Lacket los I like, but still not used to the way it feels in my mouth compared to a portion. And I also like to play with my portions, can't do it with the pris.

See??? Even with my supposed biases, I am still making sure I give deeanne59 advice to maximize her chances of liking los. I keep joking with her that it would be great if she fell in love with los. Then neither of us would have to worry about the other raiding our snus stashes. :lol: :lol:

BTW, am about to have my first ever pris of Kardus. still trying to figure out a way to like los. Look for my comments on the kardus a bit later

Give it a chance. If you base your first few bakes or just giving it a week, you won't get a fair impression. Also listen to Snusdog. I also started with RL and found it more a pain to keep intact. Next los was Skruf Stark and was really appreciating the flavor and got better at baking a pris - getting the right pack and size. Now I must admit, my homemade icetool (Syringe) has really helped.
